Hi Everyone -
I am the owner of a 2004 SeaPro 22 WA. I got it at the very end of last season and obviously cant wait for some warmer weather to splash in after a long winter up here in Boston!
The boat did not come equipped with a couple key items that I will be installing before this season begins...one is speakers and a stereo system but I can save that for another post.
My first priority is a swim ladder or transom type platform/ladder. Not having one is obviously a safety issue for if myself or a passenger went overboard, and even becomes problematic at the beach for loading and unloading passengers. Unless you are extremely agile it is very difficult to board unless stepping on from a dock.
Does anyone have any recommendations of platforms or ladders? Or thoughts about having a platform vs just a ladder? Aesthetically and usefulness? Can anyone recommend brands or styles they own and like or would recommend?
Thanks in advance everyone!

Welcome and congrats on the new boat. I would bite the bullet and go with a swim platform. It is usefull for all sorts of things, accessing your prop if you suck a line up into it, letting women pee off of, jumping into the water after emitting a Tarzan yell and also for accessing the boat if you are in the water!

I agree, platform is the way to go.. and like already said, it comes in handy for several uses and you don't have to remember to put it in the boat.

I have Lenco trim tabs on my sv2100. Do you know if this ladder will interfere with them? I've seen boats where one of the steps of the ladder was useless because it was on the tab

Thanks Juan, the photos showed me exactly what I needed to know. I am going to order a platform now that the gulf is beginning to warm up.

The main problem with that type is that you must deploy it before you need it. If you fall out of the boat unexpectedly can you reach it to get back in the boat?

I don't worry much about following seas in an 18' boat ...
My large boats have Bennets and Boat Levers ... not sure I'd trust Smart Tabs on a 26 or 32' boat.
Wes on a friends 2009 Sea Fox 21 DC Wed evening and the port Lenco tab broke off at the hinge of while underway with a full load. We thought we hit a Manatee or something. The hinges had been eaten away. (boat stays in water at a marina).

Captain Ross; Not meaning to highjack thread but was wondering about performance of smart tabs in following seas. Probably not to big an issue while on plane and out running the waves but was wondering if you had experienced any negative effects. Looking at a Kenner 19 foot boat with a tunnel hull for fishing real skinny water and wondering about adding those instead of bennetts or lencos. If you are concerned about following seas (I was) get the slow troll bracket for the smart tabs (I did). You can fully retract the tabs in 10 seconds if you need to. I'm VERY happy with smart tabs. They are not perfect, but for the $$$ they are awsome. The only time I wish I had adjustable tabs is when my buddy gets on the port side of the boat to keep dry... FYI, I have yet to need to retract the tabs.

2nd time the Lenco hinges have given up (do have nice anodes on them). Some marinas have a lot of stray current from poorly grounded boat in the water.
Scariest is losing a transom. I've seen 2 different boats in for repair where the transom was literally moving back and forth and ready to fall off (one older boat with woo, the other a well known highly respected new boat with composite transom and stringers).
