I want to remove the pedestal seats and install a leaning post. The peds seem to be thru bolted with no way to reach the bottom ( why in the world would they do that?) . I am going to cut a 6" access hole in between but is there anything I should be aware of to stay from. I will make vary shallow cuts with a roto zip. I don't think the gas tank comes back that far.

Fuel tank will be under there, but just take a look at the tank from the bilge access or from the console (if you have the capability) and check how much clearance you have.

I just drilled out the screw heads and let the nuts and remaining threads drop into the bilge. I fished them out at the drain plug after my next trip.

Well last night I just cut the hole in between the seats. There is not very much room below the deck. The foam is unbelievably hard to chip away. I had to make a special wrench to reach the outside bolts. I have them removed now I have to build the leaning post.

What is the black board that the deck is made of? It was kind of wet.

It was in between the layers of fiberglass. The drill bit went straight through it until you got to the other side of the fiberglass.
