I am curious what everyone else is using as a seat. Currently I have the following and I like it BUT I really want the option of more space. I'd like to be able to walk around the back seat without having to step up on the rear of the boat if that makes sense. Does anyone know any other options that don't cost an arm and a leg? I kinda like the leaning post feel. Attachments:

That's a nice leaning post. I have captains seats in mine, they are comfortable and swivel but no support when standing. There's also a cooler with a swiveling backrest so you can turn around , but again no support when standing. Posting a picture with an idea of using what you have with some modifications. You have rocket launchers on your t top? If so you don't need the ones on that seat. You could have an experienced welder cut off the backrest at red lines and fab you up a cross member to attach a backrest that swivels back and forth so you can sit on the leaning post facing forward or backwards. That would give you more functionality and walking around room. I don't know of anything else that would give you more floor space . Someone else might though. Just a thought?

I like that idea AC and is exactly what I was kind of thinking. Curious whether it would be more cost effective to sell this and buy one or have this one modified.

Just throwing out ideas. I have seen cooler seats with reversible back rests but not leaning posts. Doesn't mean they're not out there. The captains chairs in mine are comfy, but not high enough and they hog up just as much floor space as your setup, minus the rod holders and back rest. I wish I had a leaning post at times but then other times I sit facing stern and enjoy them seats. In rough water I envy your setup!

Great idea AC. Id definitely look at having that one modified for a couple of reasons: you know the mounting will match up without new holes in the floor and it'd probably be less money.

Looking at it, I like the idea. You could simply cut the back off 8" high so you have 2 rod holders, and can sit facing backwards. Take the seat back and tig in some inserts that allow it to slip into the existing back, and you can just remove it. Don't worry about reversal you can sit upright.

New here, glad to find this discussion. I saw a seat on a Sea Hunt that looked like it might work. Had the usual metal frame with room for a cooler. Instead of just a fore and aft setting, there were maybe 5, so it could function as a leaning post too. Don't know who sells it, but would be curious about it myself.

Looks like you have room for a nice yeti cooler under yours, would also serve as a foot rest. Good news is you already have an access port in floor to reach the backing nuts and washers under deck! Also noticed your not hurting for rod holders.

I have searched online and found nothing with a swiveling backrest. Detachable but not swivel able where you can sit backwards . Million dollar opportunity!?

Acdaddy I have seen those seats before on boats. Not sure who makes them though. I removed the bench when I did my electrical work and there weren't any backing nuts/washers holding it on. The seat was literally just screwed down. As far as rod holders... It's definitely not lacking. Attachments:

That's impressive but unless you've changed your setup, it doesn't look like your boat. ? your messin with me! I've seen the attached leaning post pict. All of them have detachable back rests , but where do you put it when you take it off? Post some Picts of a reversible back rest and I'll get one for mine!

If your going fishing? Leave it on the dock or on the truck if you trailer....
I have never seen a reversible except for those ones on the coolers or the Angler Cc that builds in compartments and the live well. I did look online and saw one but its bulky, and sounds like nlaudy is looking for more space in the cockpit?
So the suggestion, we used on my buddies, give the option to drop the backrest in or take it out and is the two pole setup so it gives more space on the floor. Dont actually think my buddy ever put the backrest in his after we installed, put it in the garage and left it there.

Thx for the info fellas! I am mainly looking for something that saves space. Right now you really can't walk around the seat without stepping up on the back platform. Would be nice to not have to worry about stepping up for safety reasons. I think just taking the rod holders off mine would give me more room but would hate to cut into a perfectly good seat.
AC, it's definitely my boat. That was the previous owners setup. I have removed the stickers and redone all the electrical. When I get done I'll post some photos.

NLaudy that is an outrageous former setup. Was former owner stripper and striper fishing at same time. Looked like he had a stripper pole on front deck/stage. BTW I installed a leaning post made by Fishmaster that I love. It was fiberglass on top has flush mounted rod holders for seven rods. It also had a removable back rest. Found taking the back rest off made getting around boat much easier. I would send the link but for some reason they quit selling them. The pole up front is the mast for the planer boards. Kind of hard to see them behind the fishing poles but they are bright green. The former owner was a hardcore striper fisherman and liked to do tournaments. Believe it or not he was usually the smallest boat in them and won/placed in a few. He would run 24+ poles at a time in the tournament hence all the gear laying around.

Cool deal man , I get aggrevated with only six poles in holders! That's a nice boat. Was just checking cause there are some guys in here that will post some wild Picts . Looks like it had a round leaning post?
