Hey guys. So my 2001 sv2100 cc is having major issues. I'm posting here because I believe the problem isn't the engine it's in the fuel delivery to the engine.
Basically my engine is having issues cutting out due to a restriction in the fuel system. I have replaced every part of the system. Fuel lines, filters etc along the way from tank to engine.
The fuel bulb which is brand new, pumps just fine but does not refill without coaxing it by squeezing it in differing directions, and even then it takes ten seconds to do so. It seems that it is just having an issue sucking up fuel. I hoped it was simply a deteriorated fuel line and new one would cure it, nope.
Also the access hole to the dang fuel tank sender and fitting doesn't truly give me access. When I open the access hole I'm looking at the bare fuel tank, 2 inches below the hole. I have to reach to the stern inside the hole to access the fuel sender, and my hand fits just far enough back to touch the fitting for the fuel line. I can however get a bit of access to the tank top from the stern starboard locker where the oil tank and battery were located by the factory... It was a hell of a time removing the hose clamp to replace the hose but I managed to do it.
So basically it's narrowed down to the tank, and with no access all I can think of is removal of the top cap Which has rediculously time consuming...
Has anyone experienced anything like this or have any other ideas how to unclog this restriction somewhere in my fuel tank?

Likely the antisiphon valve. You know where you could barely reach to connect the fuel line? Yep. Right there.

The fuel bulb which is brand new, pumps just fine but does not refill without coaxing it by squeezing it in differing directions, and even then it takes ten seconds to do so. You say it doesn't refill? Does it stay flat or do you just squeeze it repeatedly and no fuel moves through it? Check the vent on your fuel fill cover. If it is closed it will create a vacuum making fuel flow very difficult.

Or take off the fill cap and see if it works better, do you have a vent on side of boat under filler port?? Wasps like to get in little holes and build nests here! When I recently pulled the tank pickup and sender assembly from tank I found out there is a strainer screen at bottom of pickup tube that could get clogged or maybe deteriorate if you use a lot of additives maybe. Freezer, is that anti siphon valve built in to the tank pickup or is it in the 3/8" barb fitting itself? I had to replace the barb fitting and noted there was no check valve in mine. The bulb has a check valve it it. I replaced the aluminum barb fitting due to corrosion was letting air enter fuel line.

PBGUY, just a thought May or May not work. Unhook fuel line from bulb to motor, turn bulb around the other direction, add a length of hose to it , stick it in a gas can and try pumping fuel backwards into tank. You might free something up or dislodge blockage. Maybe just temporary if it works. If you have an anti siphon valve at tank it could free it up or not. You're probably going to have to install a round 6" access port over tank pickup to pull assembly .

Hey man, I had the same issue. It would fall flat on its face when I would take off usually. But other times too. Spent prolly 1.5k at the marina rebuilding injectors and filters and all kinds of engine work. Each time I asked if the checked my pickup tube and they said yes. I took the pickup tube out myself after it screwed up again and guess what.....I could pull it apart with 2 fingers. It was barley hanging in there. Brittle as crap too. I spent $15 to get a new one, replaced it, and never looked back again. Dang tube bro.......dang tube

ASV or pickup tube. Have same model/year, same problem. Your description of the location of the pickup & sender sounds like your tank is further aft than mine tho. I could get at them thru the access port on the deck between the cooler seat & the live well. Snapped off the corroded ASV trying to remove it. Replaced the whole assembly but did not put another ASV in. Also took the screen off the PU tube, figuring the Racor would catch the crud. Good luck!

My 2000 210cc has the same bulb issues but runs fine.
Have you tried running it off a portable tank?
And when you say "sending unit" is this what you mean, or are you talking about the fuel pick-up in the tank.
I think I would cut an access hole above the pick-up, mine came with one.
I know this is maddening, I'm sure your close to finding the issue.

Seems odd that the access port doesn't line up with the ASV/pickup tube and sender unit. Could the tank have slid back? Maybe try emptying the tank and see if it came be moved. What a PIA if you have to cut the deck to get at it.
