AC, acording to my calculator it's showing 7% slip on the 14X15 prop, I agree 39 mph ain;t bad but I'd like a little more. SC, The hole shot was surprisingly good, wasn"t expecting that as people have said that prop with the cupping is more like a 21 pitch ?? Somebody posted a performance bulletin for my boat with a 13 7/8 X 17 prop getting 45mph, thats where I need to be for sure, need to go back and look for that again. And interesting point about the exhaust, hadn't considerd that.

That wasn't my numbers. I have a different boat and motor. I got 42 mph with a 13.25 x 17 cupped alluminum prop 3 blade . 7% slip.115 hp 180cc. They say a cupped prop is equal to an addition 1" pitch. Them some good numbers on the prop you have. Wouldn't move to anything drastic in pitch maybe a 14x17? These aren't speed boats and are very heavy. The hole shot can be improved by drilling your existing prop with vent holes. Can't find a good template yet but it works if you get it right! Will keep looking. Might do mine .

When I first joined you posted some specs for my boat, much appreciated. A 14X17 is definatly where I need to go , I don't want to try to make a rocket ship out of her just hate having people wait for me when we go out in a group. 45mph is all I need 50 would be nice but I'd like to be able to pull back and cruise around 40ish if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean. Didn't mean to disrespect. Try a 17p . I know it's frustrating, not all 17" pitches are the same either. Some more cupped, rakers, smaller blade surfaces and all brands have different blade designs. I have not yet checked out the PROPGODS.COM , they are in Florida , give them a call with specs, I think someone said they have a loaner program!

No problem, didn't take anything as disrespectfull. thought about propgods but I think there loaner program is only if they come out to you, as there 5 hours away in tampa I don't think thats an option. I'll get a 17 to try and leave it at that, should be good enough.

I know alot of you have moved on and/or figured out prop issues etc. But for posterity here is a link to a pretty good article that I think explains alot with regard to prop performance, hull design, etc. As a matter of fact if anyone asks questions about it this should be a great source to send them to, especially when it comes to boat setup. www.kencook.net/Setupart.htmlStill working on mine. I just emailed Ken @ Propgods. I will post results. Thanks for the link. Good read

Ok so Ken recommended a 14 pitch stainless and Proptech is recommending a 15 3 blade or 14 4 blade. After thinking about this for a few months I just can't bring myself to spend $4-600 on a prop right now. Just too much other stuff I want to take care of 1st. So I have been looking for used props with no luck and came across an Evinrude aluminum 15x15 for $129 on Ebay brand new in the box. I will post results hopefully some time early March.
Thanks to all

OK so after a long hard winter I finally got the boat in the water yesterday. With the Evinrude aluminum 15x15: me, 80 gal. fuel and light load,
WOT 5300 35 mph 400-4100 cruise at 30 mph, this seems to be the sweet spot for cruising I can stay on plane at 3200 @ 17 mph and it gets on plane a little quicker
So all in all I am satisfied, the engine even sounds like its not working as hard but maybe that's in my head since it's been months since I've run it.
