Please help! 2004 Seaboss 210CC
While on the lake this weekend I noticed water running out of washdown connection while underway. The pump was NOT on and I have not noticed this happening before while running the boat. I have a cap on the connection where you hook up the hose which was a little loose, and maybe I just noticed it since the cap was loose?
This was the first time out this year and as I am getting ready to go to Lake Erie in a few weeks for some walleye fishing I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.
I disconnect and drain everything for winter and I guess that I am wondering if I reconnected something wrong?
Since this happened while the boat was moving +/- 20MPH I am wondering if the force of the water going thru the intake on the bottom of the boat was pushing the water thru the system.
Please correct me if I am wrong but there is a Rule tournament series 800 GPH pump connected to the intake on the bottom of the boat which pumps water thru a filter on the larger 3.4 West Marine washdown pump. The Rule 800 GPH pump also supplies water thru a separate hose to the livewell. Could the water push thru the intake while underway? I have had the boat for just 3 years and do not recall this happening before.
Any ideas?

Close the sea cock. The housing is cracked on the pump most likely. It's very common. Even if not broken the live well will fill when not broken.

I don't have a washdown pump so I can't speak to that, but I can tell you that while under way water pressure will flow through your live well pump and into your live well unless you have the brass valve under the pump closed or have the valve in the live well closed. I suspect your loose hose cap was the problem. You might try putting a water hose in the inlet and checking for leaks just to be sure.

Yeah your fine. When your running water flows into the channel at pressure and runs through all your lines connected to the Seacock. Remember, a pump is on a spindle with the blade on the end that pumps when the motor pushes. If there is nothing to push the motor or hold it in place it can still spin and pump if something pushes it beside the motor. The water flowing in there for the boat moving is that push, which is way less push that the actual motor itself, and is how the water is moving through the system.
If you don't have a hose on there just put the cap on or as said above you can close the seacock. Just capping would be the easier option.
