Y'all making me want one now. You used it offshore Juan? It will hold on a spot so you can fish? Yep, I use it offshore.. never throw the anchor any more. It has worked perfectly for me and holds on top of my numbers so I can fish spots with accuracy. I'll just motor up to one of my gps numbers and when I see the fish on the fishfinder, I'll drop the trolling motor and hit the anchor lock button. Works great...but I don't venture out there when the seas are over 3ft. .. As I said earlier, the only time it has quit holding and drifted off the spot is when the seas have been so rough that the prop came out of the water..and even then it didn't lose the hold all the time. It works perfectly in calmer waters and I use it all the time to hold the boat in one spot when I find fish. I'm sure it would quit when the batteries are drained too, but I've fished all day and haven't had that problem (yet).

I use mine offshore and it works great as long as seas are 2' or less (because mine is mounted so high, it cavitates) It works best when you head into the wind before you spot lock it. I have had trouble keeping within 12 feet if I lock it while going down wind. It does so much more than just spot lock though. Last month while drifting for specks, the wind was very strong causing our drift to be more like trolling. I was able to head into the wind, set the auto pilot and slow the drift down from 1.5 to 0.3 mph. I have the I-pilot link that works with my Humminbird, so it will also take me to any of my spots, or follow any track that I have stored at whatever speed I tell it to. It's amazing what it will do. Inland, I can put in a lakemaster card and if the bass seem to be holding in 8' of water, I can tell the TM to take me around the 8' countour line all the way around the lake at whatever speed I want it to go.

I wish I had that capability with mine.. Wanna trade 2 Garmins and a Lowrance for a Humminbird?

You can do most of it (other than follow the contour) with your Lowrance, it's just not as convenient to do it from the remote as it is from the FF. For the record, I like the garmin map features and interface a little better than the HB, but I love the sonar capability of the HB as well as the TM features.
