I put one of these from the video on today. Easy install, less than 30 minutes start to finish. My only concerns are 1) I can't get to mine every trip to check tightness with the boat on the lift and 2) if you hit something hard, will it pop the whole skeg of now? The aluminum would give but this stainless one seems more substantial. Anyone heard of any serious problems after installing one of these and hitting something hard?

Anyone heard of any serious problems after installing one of these and hitting something hard? I hate to admit it, but I hit something my very first trip after installing the Skeg Guard on the Sea Pro. I thought I had posted about it but might not have. What ever it was I hit was solid but was deep enough that the only thing that hit was the skeg. Other than losing a $100 skeg guard, it didn't hurt a thing except my feelings. The bolts are designed to shear off and they did. Ordered and installed another one and haven't hit anything since.

I have a buddy that did the same thing and all he lost was his skeg guard...

Put one my Chris Craft, like the one you are considering. Worked well, no issues at all.

That's good to know. Juan, I think you did post about it in another thread but I couldn't find it.
