Also found the Carling switches at New Wire Marine from Charlotte, NC. Been good to me and offered good advice by phone. Kudos to Eric and Jeff there

Has anyone posted Images of the console area re-wire? I've seen one that opened for me on this site from funnyflagphil. What about stickeys for this site? With the goofy wiring on these boats, pics/elec layouts would help alot! Just going through mine and main from battery to console is no tinned..WTFudge Rant done ;>)

Agree with Rsylvestri... can we post some good photos of previous work and make it a sticky?

Thanks gnrphill, that’s the look I’m shooting for. Was the main to breaker 10gauge and then to the instruments 14ga.?

Thanks gnrphill, that’s the look I’m shooting for. Was the main to breaker 10gauge and then to the instruments 14ga.? On the pictures I've used the existing sea pro harness and extended the power and ground with i think 10 gauge, I've since ran fresh 8 gauge from the house battery to the fuse block. I'm going to add a board inside and tidy things up some more.

Just did a complete rewrite of 1991 190cc. Everything is daisy chained together. Bad ground connection on temp gauge caused other gauges to be wonky. In chasing tach problem I inadvertently pulled n connector on engine that goes to electronic ignition. One pin had slid down inside connector so no spark no start. Great to have Johnson/evinrude service manual with wiring diagrams and step by step instructions for idiots like me. Everything works perfect now. I just had entire power head overhaul so I pretty much got a new boat. I love it!

Gnrphil, what did you use once you got rid of old push in fuses? Finally starting the re-wire with 8ga from battery to 12 circuit blue seas. A little sore from running conduit, wire and untangling the mess in the console It looks like some plastic plugs (size) in the pics you posted. Thanks, Rick

Sorry for the late reply Rick, I found some white plastic hole cover things at Lowes, got a bit of a mix of those and automotive trim clamps at the moment. Have a look in Lowes or Home Depot for them, I think they're used for covering recessed screws in furniture.

I second this request. Please post pics.
The previous owner(s) of my boat left the wiring a mess, but am slowly working through accessories and tying them into the house side fuse block....

I second the aforementioned request, and raise it: please show your under-the-console wiring! I've just installed a fuse block and will be re-routing many circuits...how have you kept it neat?
Thanks--

I cleaned up the wiring in my helm. The prior owner was less handy than he imagined. One look and my ADHD buddy went to work. Now all of my electrical is neatly wired and on a swing out shelf to make it easy to access, repair, and add to. I need to better secure the stereo radio, but that will have to wait a week or two.

This is from my lack of knowledge, but I see you have 9 positives and only 5 negatives. Is that correct? Also, where are you hooking your grounds to?
