I hope you're right!!! They said it would be ready this weekend. I plan to fish a bass tournament Saturday so can't pick it up if it's ready. Probably pick it up Monday just in time for the sun to melt the moon.

I'm considering doing a scientific experiment.. I'm going to take the kids out of school and throw out some catfish noodles and see if they are fooled by the darkness of the eclipse.

I'm getting impatient. I called this morning and was told: "We've got the motor hung and are within a couple of hours of getting her wet. I'll call you when it's ready but there are thunderstorms everywhere" The call never came.

Freezer do you live in an area projected for totality of the eclipse, which is supposed to only last about two and half minutes from leading edge to trailing edge of the moon's circumference as it travels. BTW my favorite quote of all times came from George Gobel. He was asked if he was known take a drink or two. And he said on occasion like a sunset, or if a volkswagon drives by, but he said the only time he would not take a drink is if there was a total eclipse of the sun. No, we are projected to be 95%. Should get pretty dark I would think.. And I believe it about Gobel. He seemed to live up to his quote on the Hollywood Squares!

They got it launched between showers yesterday and logged 3 hours of break in time.. It's reportedly turning 6,000 rpms. That's great if they had it trimmed out at WOT since the specs call for 5,000 to 6,000. They still have a couple of wires to hunt down under the console so I'm not sure what they've disconnected or haven't yet connected but I'm picking it up Tuesday.. Going to be like Christmas in August.

I can't answer any of that. I won't see it until next Tuesday but I'm hoping they know what they're doing and set it up right. They should since they sell and install a lot of outboards. I think you're right about the newer motors having more room for larger props... The prop options on the 150 are 17 to 19".

Good deal. You're going to love it. The catfish weren't fooled by the eclipse, but the turtles were on fire. It never got darker than sunset, but it did get much cooler for about a half hour.

where was your hunk of 4x4 to support the engine.
I had forgotten to put it in the truck. It's there now! Actually, they (and the manual) state you aren't supposed to tilt it up and use the tilt lever to lock it in place unless the boat is stationery so the piece of wood is still a way support the motor and take the pressure off the hydraulics. Can I get a patent on a piece of 4x4 ? Looks good! Whats your opinion so far? I like it.. It's different and will take a little getting used to, but I like it. Going from a 14 x 15" prop to a 16 x 18.5" prop certainly makes a difference. I haven't yet decided to stay with the 18.5" prop since it's turning 5600 rpms. The recommended range is between 5000 and 6000 so it's within the range but I'd like to get it closet to the 6000 mark. We tried a smaller 15.5 x 17" prop but it ran slightly over 6000 so they have a 16 x 17 ordered and are shipping that one to me when it arrives along with a water pressure gauge I can install to monitor the water pump. Instead of changing just the tach, they changed all my gauges out with Suzuki gauges. They look great. They cleaned and detailed the boat after the 3 hour break in and even made and mounted a new cutting board to replace the broken one I had mounted to the live well lid. I was impressed. It's super quiet, but I honestly can't say it's much if any quieter than the old Yammie was. It certainly shifts better. As you know, I'll need to take it easy for another 7 hours of break in period. With the weather forecast, it may take a month or more to put those 7 hours on it.

Noticed from your pic that the engine was mounted in the middle holes. Through the distraction of the speed port getting a drill bit broke off, you probably did not get a chance to look at the anti-vent plate. That might make a difference, but not 400 rpm. I thought you said they had it running up to 6000 rpm, must of been a mistake or maybe they were using a shop prop to break in the engine. They did tell me it was turning 6,000. but when we tested it, it was turning 5,600. Maybe the weight of two people was the difference? IDK. I did look at the cavitation (anti) while he drove the boat and it looked like it was just barely under the surface. I may raise it one hole if the prop they are shipping to me doesn't do what I expect it tp do. The one thing I didn't like about the way they mounted it was they put all 4 mounting bolts with the nuts to the outside. I've always heard and believed it was best to mount the top two with the nuts to the outside and the bottom two with the nuts inside the bilge. I changed that today so now it's how I wanted it. I also extended the fuel line to the water separator and moved the primer bulb from the splash well to the starboard rear compartment and covered the wiring with a section of pool vacuum hose.

I'm with you on the mounting bolts, when they rehung mine they did the same, I'll need to change it in the winter. Pool vacuum hose looks good, I'm gonna copy that idea. Whats the pvc fitting for in the splash well ?

Whats the pvc fitting for in the splash well ? That's where I store my boat plugs, a wrench and a couple of pieces of PVC pipe that I put on the steering arms to keep the motor from moving when it's on the trailer. Just a short piece of 4" PVC pipe with a screw on cap that's stuck to the splash well with 5200. Makes it easy and quick to get the stuff.

What was the speed at 5600? I know I can trim a lot more on my zuke than I could with my Johnson. Moving the bulb won't be an issue, I haven't pumped mine yet. Sounds like the prop you have coming should put you right there.

What was the speed at 5600? Not sure... I didn't have the gps mounted on the first run with the 18.5" prop. The speedometer was showing about 38 but there was so much crap floating down the river, it didn't work for long before picking up trash. How fast is an 18.5" prop turning 5600 rpms going? I don't have a clue. btw" both props we tried were Zuke props and with both, it seemed to jump out of the hole quicker than it used to. I won't be needing to use the trim tabs as often as I did with the Yammie.

Finally got her dialed in with the 18.5 to where I wanted it. Turning 42 mph at 5900 rpms at WOT now. Can hit 6,000 rpms but throws a rooster tail and doesn't gain any speed over 5900. I don't know if it's getting better because it's almost broke in or because the wife was aboard this time instead of a fat fishing buddy and his gear.
