Bout to the pull the trigger on a brand new 228. My local dealer has 2 fully loaded ones in stock. One has the df200 and one has a Yamaha 250 4.2.
My last boat was an older pathfinder with a 250sho. I know that’s a whole different animal n I don’t need to go 62mph anyways. Will miss the hole shot…
Dealer is trying to talk me into the 250 but I love the performance data on the df200. Only other performance data is on the merc 225 that I can find and it basically makes the df200 shine and makes the merc look like crap.
Would the Yamaha 250 (not sho) have a similar sheet to the merc ya think? Or possibly higher top end and slightly better fuel economy? Anybody have any real world data w that setup?
TIA

The Yamaha is a little heavier but also has a 70 amp alternator compared to the Suzuki's 44 amp which could be a plus, I would expect a better hole shot from a V6 to an inline 4 and a bit more top end, fuel economy is going to be better with the suzuki.

I ended up purchasing the df200. I’m getting some things installed and waiting on the initial service. I won’t have the boat on the water til June 21st! Can’t wait to get on the next wave!
