Adding a T-top, and is it worth it?

Hello, so I've been toying around with the idea of a t-top addition on my 2004 170CC. Obviously, not a huge boat, but I've seen them with tops before and they look manageable as far as casting a rod and moving on the deck. My question to you guys is, would it be worth it? What are your experiences with adding one? And what are some good brands? I don't need anything fancy, a canvas top with some stainless tube would work fine. I'm curious about the install as well, considering the fuel tank is under the console. It has a bimini top and I hate it when fishing. It gets in the way. Thanks for the input!

Yes it is worth it. You gain castability and shade as well as a little storage. You lose some fuel economy if you trailer. My brother has one on his 17' boat, but he made it himself out of fiberglass. It is very nice though.

That was actually a question of mine, does having the top limit how fast you can tow your boat?

I've towed mine 80 with no issues other than really bad fuel economy.

Another vote for YES, it's worth it. Just the shade it provides, makes it worth it imo. It will provide a little wind resistance and you might lose as much as 3 or 4 mph top speed on the water too.
