Has anybody need to replace the balancer in their motor?
Last year i was told that mine was going back and when I took it to the shop Monday, they said that it has to be done very soon or expect to buy a new powerhead.

If it is a Yamaha 150 then yes, the gears may melt and cause all types of havoc. Call Yamaha and they may do as good will as they know about this. They have updated parts.

Wow - Yamaha F150 4-strokes need to be checked! Unit on Left is new, Unit in Middle failed, Unit on Right is in need of replacement before it fails,

Does anybody have a phone number for Yamaha that I can call to see if they will step up to the plate?
I had about the same issue with my motorcycle, Kawaski put a plastic oil pump gear in the motors and were failing after 3000+ miles. Never had a recall in general but if they did fail they would pay to have it replaced not matter how many miles were on the bike.

Interesting read,,,, Seems the balancer issue has been a known problem since 2004... I know several people who have been running Yammie 150s (including myself) for years and swear by their performance and reliability... Now I'll be listening for a squealing sound every time I take the boat out.

Juan, I love my 150 yamaha (2004) and I do not hear the noise that they said the motor is making.
I guess it was too much Led Zepplin and Cream growing up. Now I have an excuse when my wife says something, I can claim, "I did not hear you HONEY" just like the motor noise.

Hi all, I recently was told I need to get this replaced on my 150.. Anyone that's had this done, how much did you end up paying?

Hi all, I recently was told I need to get this replaced on my 150.. Anyone that's had this done, how much did you end up paying? Still no problems with mine but this discussion did make me do a lot of research on the subject.. Seems it's happened on a lot of F150s but it's not a universal problem and there are thousands of F150s out there that haven't had any issues at all.. I'd have to hear the squealing noise and then I'd still get at least two different opinions before I had any work done.
