Starter spinning but not engaging....was the main problem, swapped out with other motor, started right up.
So....
I swapped solenoid now nothing on both. If you have a Suzuki would you please email me a pic of you sol/starter so I can make sure I wired back up properly. Also if you can help with the starter starting but not rising enought to engage fly wheel?

I have the same motors, (I have twins) but If the motor has low voltage it will not start and will do what you are talking about. If these motors get down to 11.6 volts, this will happen. Test your battery's voltage.

If the battery voltage tests good then check the voltage at the starter itself. You could have a corroded connection that you can't see and it could drop your voltage and current.

Check the spark plugs and the wires. If its spinning, but not engaging, it sounds like you have no spark to get it going.

It sure sounds like you're not getting adaquet voltage AND current (amps) to the solenoid. Have you checked it while it is engaged? You should be able to jump the solenoid directly off the battery, using jumper cables, and see if it engages. If it doesn't than you most likely have a bad solenoid.

And remember to check the ground cable as well as the positive, the problem could just as well be on that part of the circuit. It sounds like an issue with a corroded terminal and not enough current flowing.

Can you tell me what the voltage is on your battery with the motor off?? My motors will not start with 12.4 volts showing on my volt meter, becasue It pulls them down so much trying to start them!! I can run both my motors about a half a mile, then shut them down and the voltage is 13.5 on both batteries. Im telling you man it takes alot of voltage to turn over these motors!!

Seapro66, would you take a picture of your starter relay, and email it to me. I can't locate a book or diagram, had to order one. But I want to make sure I wired them back in correctly before I attempt at starting them.
Also rewiring switch panel because the wiring behind it is very very bad. Do you still have original switched / Gages?

I got it, will post pictures later but it was the battery cable in between the motor and batt. In the tube keeping the wires tighter and neat, not sure the name. It held water in it and the neg wired boiled and separated

That is why I suggested using jumper cables and bypassing all wiring. You can have plenty of voltage but the cables may not provide the amperage needed.

I appreciate all the assistance. Ended up redoing all the wires to batt switches, ran a new common and added bus bar to console - wanted to make sure I knew how stuff was run.

That was a good investment and the buss bars are always handy to have. You won't regret it.
