jp, I talked to the guy at Georges and thought they were a little to high for me. I don't remember exactly but I think it was in the 400-500 dollar range for the six cylinder. They change the plugs instead of check them as required so that drives the cost up some. I am due my 100 hour service but am going to buy the parts & tools online from the Verado parts website and do it myself. Scott

that's exactly what it was........and i'm running a 175 not a 225 like you. They didn't even change the plugs, It prolly would ease the pain a little if they had. I wont be going back. I had some work done on the trolling motor (still under warranty), they replaced a breaker and even charged me labor for 1/4 hr @ $98/hr. which was only 25 bones but still.....it came out to $485.80......i d@m near croaked.....I was expecting the $300 norm that i read about being the price, but not at all. I did all my own serv work on my Yammy, but have read on the verado site in the past about how finicky merc is with that first year being done by the dealer so i took the bait.....Charged me for 7 qts of merc 4 stroke oil and didn't even give me the extra as other service places do, on top of that they didn't even use the 'verado oil' that they suppose to, just plain ol' mercury 4 stoke oil. it won't happen again my friend. I hear ya Ed...... truer words have never been spoken.....

Oh yeah, forgot to say this.....the whole reason I had brought it up there in the first place was b/c that v-rod was leaking oil from some where around the block. And while i was getting that fixed, I told them that since it was a month away from being a year old to go ahead and do the service work. When I asked how much the serv work would cost, nobody, not even George himself gave me a straight up answer. Then, come to find out out when i went to pay and pick up the boat the motor only had 68 hrs on it.....you woulda thought they could have called a brother and said "hey man, we got your problem fixed, you only got 68 hrs, you wanna run her for the summer and come back in a couple of months for that service work?"
but h@ll, that makes way too much sense, and that would be entirely too customer oriented......my bad.....

jp, Thats just the way they roll. George has never been to keen on service. He will sell you a boat cheaper than almost anybody in the country but you are pretty much on your own with problems. He has gotten somewhat better over the years but still leaves alot to be desired. Also a certain individual that works up there is crazy as a sprayed roach! I learned quick to have as little contact as possible with them. You do like you see best, but if I have a major problem with my V-Rod I would have to haul it to Mississippi I believe.

I had pretty much the same experience with the folks at Grady as you did. Did not seem to care one way or another about me buying a boat from them. I mean 35K may not be any money to some folks but it is alot to this poor white boy! I am sorry that them folks lost their jobs but you do reap what you sow. ...customer service, or shall I say lack of.....will make or break you.... Yep. It's unreal to me how we as consumers have gotten used to no customer service. I mean it's almost non-existant around here. I guess another social impact of Wal-Mart. Price sells.

Yeah, I had tried twice also at Grady.....once a little alum. duck boat......then when I was buying my first bayboat years back I tried to give them some business once again and got pushed to the side again......No sir, not this cat......Yall can keep your boat w/ service like that.
On a side note.....my V-rod going back to shop for 3rd time now.....it's been sending out alarm beeps for the first time...they go away after a little while and it still runs but aggrivating as all get out. When it leaking oil from the block no alarms....get the problem 'fixed',.....now I got alarms going off. Not real impressed w/ my Merc so far........Have you had any problems with that big block 225 of yours?

That suxs. What the symptoms is? Still same as above? Where did you wind up taking it? As of 125 hours of use, I have not had any problems thus far with my 225 V-Rod (knock on wood/fingers and toes crossed) and I hope it stays that way. Scott

Any one have problems with the Automatic Power Selector for the batteries. My 2006 Verado 150 hp on a Sea Pro 2006 CC M-2006 started to break down when under a load .When the throttle was beyond 1/2 the motor would keep running but all power was lost. It has been this way for 9 months and $1800.00 in various repairs at the Marina. They are an authorized Mercury repair facility. This week they accidently found the problem with the aid of the computer. When starting and running at 4 mph it was putting out 14.7 volts. Once the throttle was increased to cruising speed it read 18.8 volts and started breaking down .The mechanic was using the motor trim and at 18.8 it went back to 14.7. The computer showed at 14.7V, 100% usuable power, when it jumped to 18.8 V it dropped to 30% usuable power. The NewMar APS-70 Auto power selector was replaced with a manual switch and now it runs fine. Has anyone else had this proplem?

NO I haven't had that problem icediver but power supply can cause V-Rod's all kind of problems. I have read that if you are having "quircky" problems with your motor and have a suspect battery, change it out to a AGM 1000 CCA or higher and more often than not it will straighten the motor right up.
