My advice is to do it. You will never regret it unless you are and old fart from south east Alabama that has to sit down ALL the time! ;D Do a forum search and you will find several threads already devoted to this subject with lots of info. Good luck with your project.

Good luck with your project. Don't listen to him....his limp wrists and legs and needs something to lean on. ;D I'd keep the cooler seat,,, you'll miss the comfort and storage..but you could have the best of both worlds by raising the cooler seat to the height of a leaning post... there's a thread about doing just that somewhere.

I feel some ribbin here on the cooler seat issue. It will be a little while before I can do anything since my cows decided to tear my fence down last week I'm buying fence materials this month. I will look for the post on raising it. I would like to be able to take the cooler out to clean it. Mines bolted to the floor. If I go with a leaning post where would be a good place to look. I'm located in central Florida. Five generation floridian if you can beleivte that. Thanks.

Somewhere on here I have a post that I had brackets made to raise my cooler seat and love it. They were powder coated and made to the height that I needed.
BTW, that is a long a$$ flight from Atlanta to German.

I just ordered mine today from this place in Ft. Meyers: www.cuttingedgeboattops.com/Leaning-Post.html I was able to customize the height, and it should be here next week. He checks out from what I've seen on some of the other forums, and the price is fair. I'll post up what I think when it gets here.

Thanks freezerfiller. I will check with this company as well. One guy here was 1,200 bucks. Little more than what I would like to spend on a leaning post. Oh well, that may be the normal price. I've never priced one before.

Simple man - did you ever measure that folding seat you have? My wife wants it... Just went and measured it. It is 39.5" long and 18" wide. That's outside tube to outside tube. Let me know if you need anything else.

Ordered my leaning post from hottopsmarine. Measured the width of the holes left from my flipback cooler seat and ordered to cover holes. LP was less than $500. This is the best upgrade I have done to my SV2100.
To remove old seat, get a friend, tape two 7/16 wrenches together for reach. Duct tape opening of fuel tank hatch to protect your arm. Reach in and secure bolt.

My leaning post arrived today, after going for a tour of the southeastern US on Greyhound. Overall I'm pretty pleased. I ordered the 595 model with the removable backrest, and underseat storage. The only knocks on it are the plastic inserts on the rod holders only go down a few inches, the polishing could be a little better, and the underseat storage is smaller than it looks on the site, but the welds look good and overall plenty sturdy. I have no doubt that it will be in service on the boat as long as I own it. If I had to do it over again I would probably save $200 and omit the underseat storage, but I feel I definitely got my moneys worth. I hope to install it next weekend if my boat didn't float off the trailer due to Isaac Attachments:
