All,
I posted this (incorrectly) in the electronics section. It really belongs here ...
Ok, here's the problem & info I hope someone has:
1) The purple wire going into the back of the ignition switch has a short/break that will prevent (or set off) the warning light cycle. Motor will crank and run.
2) Does anyone know if the wires going into the ignition switch are plug-in or have some other type of connection? They are covered with a yellow sheath or shrink wrap (can't tell which) so before I go pulling wires I'd like to know if I'm messing something up even more! I don't want to have to replace the entire wiring back to the motor if it's just a bad connection or wire broken right at the switch.
3) I've gone back through all of the original material that was with my boat when I bought it used. The previous owner had all the original material, but none of it has the schematics for this part of the wiring.
4) Any advise or diagrams (or source of diagrams/schematics) for this part of the boat (180DC 2004 90HP Johnson) would be very much appreciated.
5) Just knowing what each color wire does would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance for any help. At the very least, it's annoying; more to the point, I know it's potentially dangerous if the alarms fail to go off.
Thanks, again! Davie

This is all I have: Here is the Sea-Pro Dash Wiring: Your OB motor harness uses the following colors. Purple is the "Ignition Switch Power feed" on OMC:

They just plug in. you might want to add a little dielectric grease to keep from corroding when you plug it back in.
