jaycenk, i know its now march and you joined in february. welcome to the forum. my question for you pertains to the picture of your boat and truck posted onthe tow rig specs thread. i have a 2006 sv1900cc i bought last spring. bought a cover for it that was supposed to be trailerable. last fall trailering from tennessee to florida i pulled over 3 times less than 50 miles from the house. the last time i pulled over i ended up taking the cover off and putting it in my truck. my problem was all the air getting under the cover and blowing it up like a baloon. my question for you is do you trailer yours the way it looks in the picture at interstate speed? and does yours have a drawstring around the hem and sewn in tie down loops. your cover looks just like mine. where did you get yours. i hate traveling very far without a cover to protect the boat and would like to remedy my problem. thanks, troutslayer p.s. going to destin last two weeks of april.

I've never seen a cover that would hold up long to interstate speeds. I'd be interested to hear of everyones experience with travel covers too. You fishing inside or outside while in Destin? Be sure to bring something to throw at a cobia if you go out!

mostly inside the bay and harbor. i stay in the very back of the harbor at sandpiper cove. mostly chase reds, trout and flounder. been going there for 7 years now. had the seapro there for the first time last fall and was able to explore more of the bay than in my smaller boat i used to take. never been out on the gulf on my own, been on a couple of charters over the years. destins east pass out to the gulf can be a real bear and it intimidates me.

Yeah, it can be a bear thats no lie. If you have a nice day its not to bad though and you can see the cobia better. Its a good time if you work up the nerve. More like hunting than fishing.

Each one is measured for a specific boat - new boats are added as they get measured. Your I/O boat (more rare) was never measured by Westland. The O/B version might fit, but I wouldn't chance it since it has more material to go around the motor at the back ...
We may have the factory OEM pattern for the I/O model ... want us to check?

I believe in keeping a boat covered while it's in the yard or in storage but....Why does anyone need to cover their boat while towing anyway? You just have to take it off when you get to where you're going or the ramp and if a cover flops just slightly in the breeze it could scratch a plastic windshield or the gelcoat on your boat... I guess a cover keeps out rain and a few bugs...but how hard is that to clean up? Seriously, I don't see what it accomplishes unless maybe you get better fuel mileage with a cover on the boat.

juan, i see your point. just going to the lake or somewhere local yea you just have to take it off, but 550 miles on the interstate from knoxville to destin makes me feel better with a cover on, dirt , bugs, road debris etc. the fuel mileage may be better too, at 4 bucks a gallon my 2002 f250 crew cab long bed diesel 4x4 might like to find out. the thing has a 38 gallon tank and i usually get 720 or so miles out of a tank. last fall going to destin pulling my sv1900cc i could have made it all the way on fuel no problem, but the wife was with me and wanted a pit stop to eat so i topped it off below montgomery.

simple man, about fishing in destin, i also fish the beach some as the tasty butterball pompano run is in full swing while i am there. last year a friend of mine from augusta ga who owns a condo where i stay, saw and hooked a cobia from the beach while we were pompano fishing it was just a little under keeper size but gave him a heck of a battle from the beach.

Yep. It wont be long. Those pompano are about the best eating fish there is in my book. I love cobia too. They are cool acting fish and if it is ready to be caught they will almost jump in the boat to get your bait. I am getting on that freedom bird Wednesday for a month R&R. I'm gonna do some trout fishing!

I think forum members should get a 50% discount. Can't quite do that, but I will offer FREE shipping on all Sea-Pro canvas to forum members in March to help get boats ready for Spring. Just enter SEAPROBOATOWNERS.COM in the notes filed when ordering, and we'll rebate the shipping immediately.
