I've got a 90hp 2 stroke on the back of my 170cc seapro and was curious how hard it would be to switch from Cable to Hydrolic steering. how expensive would it be and is it easy to do, or should i hire someone to do it? Thanks.

This is what I have on my 2006 115 mercury. This is the first "hydro" installed on the numerous boats owned during the years. Although I didn't install it, everything I've seen says "easy to do yourself". Never had an issue with it. I would recommend it to anyone. www.jmsonline.net/baystar-hydraulic-steering-sys.htm(you can find better prices, just copy, paste, and search online) Installation video here: Hope this helped.

In my opinion I wouldn't bother with the hydraulic steering on a 90hp. I don't think you'll see a major difference from the nfbs. Also its just something else to break on the boat.. But thats just my humble opinion..

I think hydraulic steering ought to be standard equipment on any boat. Maintenance costs are lower than cable on saltwater boats and they are much safer than cable systems. The baystar is a great system too. Install shouldn't be to challenging if you have some basic mechanical skills.
