Have 1998 Optimax 225. After not using for a day or two, some oil from the reserve tank goes somewhere. I am assuming it is going to the remote oil tank. Does anyone know if there is a one way check valve or something that could be bad and causing this? Enough goes out that the low oil alarm comes on until you top off the reserve. Thanks!

From my experience with the exact same problem on my '06 Optimax 150, you need to replace the remote tank. There is a sensor in the tank that alarms low oil if the checkvalve (that's integral to the tank and not individually replaceable) leaks oil back into the reservoir. It's a little over a hundred dollars, but the alarm goes away and all is good. JDK  |
