Does anyone have any/know anyone with used Mercury Smartcraft spedometers with the digital display. I had a guest on my boat this weekend and they dropped somthing directly on the lense. The one i have was manufactured in 05' and has the double plastic lense which cannot be replaced according to merc and every other of the 20-25 shops i have called through my research. Ive found that to purchase the brand new one its $430.00 so I am looking for some alternatives. What i have found out for the merc guys is that any smartcraft spedo with the digital dispaly manufactured after 02' will work for the wiring harness I currently have in the boat. So im basically looking for anything that is used or anyone who has some collecting dust in the back of their whare house OR if someone has repaired in the past. Heres a picture to give some visuals.

Hey Juan- Thanks for the post!
I did see this on ebay, but the only problem i found out through research is that with my motor I need a somthing produced 02' or newer (this is what the merc guys told me directly).
I have a new lead: Marine Connection out of Florida. These guys stockpile parts in their wharehouse and are looking into it for me. They have new/used stuff for sale and they are great.
I will keep you guys updated.

Alright, so, after three full days of research I have found a solution to a broken Smart Craft gauges. In case anyone runs into an issue surrounding the gauge here is some info. A few important things to know about these gauges: 1)Broken lenses on the Smart Craft gauges cannot be replaced/repaired (info directly from Merc). 2)If the gauge for any reason stops working mechanically it cannot be fixed (info directly from Merc). They said there was one company that was fixing mechanical issues but they are no longer doing so. 3)There are two generations of Smart Craft gauges (THIS IS IMPORTANT). The two generations are manufactured before 2002 and after 2002. The Smart Craft gauges manufactured before 2002 have a white backing and those manufactured after 2002 have a blue backing (like the one in my picture above). From what Mercury has told me, any gauges with blue backing are interchangeable should you need to replace one of your gauges, and vice versa for the white backing, and you WILL NOT have to change out the wiring harnesses and/or plugs (the should all be compatible so long as you order the correct gauge). The part numbers, years they are made, and # of pins does not matter (the number of pins will be a matter of another reading on the gauge but all of the female plugs leading to the wiring harness are 10 pin). Once you install, all you have to do is follow the calibration sequence in the manual and you are set. The tricky part about replacing the gauge was finding one. There’s basically one of two options. You can go to your dealer and buy a brand new one in the box from the (as of Jul 31, 2013 there are none available to ship from the warehouse until August 15th 2013) and the price tag on that is apprx $430.00. I personally could not believe these things could not be fixed and the are so expensive so I started doing some research. Eventually I had a long winded conversation with my parts guy and he put me in contact with a place down in Florida called Marine Connection Liquidators, here is the link www.themarineconnection.net/. These guys purchase and stockpile old parts from manufactures and other shops that were never used. After a few phone calls and trips into the warehouse the guy rich found me a brand new gauge that was built in 08’ and sold it to me for $200.00 (before going through with the transaction I called Merc with the two part numbers and had them cross reference to ensure they were compatible). The only catch was it is not in packaging because a manufacture bought them in bulk from mercury to install on new and repaired and then Marine connection purchased those. In the end this process took a while but saved me big bucks in the end and the marine store guaranteed the condition of the gauge. Hope this helps anyone who runs into this problem in the future! Also, since our beloved sea pros are not longer manufactured, parts are hard to come by. Marine Connection has a large stockpile of surplus parts so I would give them a call if your having trouble finding a specific part.
