The recent discussions about waxes has me interested in learning the truth about promises on the labels of these products such as years of UV protection, 1000 washes durability, etc. I mentioned my two favorites were nufinish, and turtlewax. I am about to do an evaluation on some resins, and I have room in my UV cabinet for a few more samples, so if anyone has a favorite other than the ones above, I could probably squeeze in two more. You would be required to send me about 2 oz, and application instructions. The test would expose the samples to significant UV radiation followed by cycles of water spray. The test should simulate approximately 2 years in Florida. Results to be posted on this thread around Jan/Feb for those who have an interest.

My money is on Nufinish finishing at the top....especially if you consider ease of application. Looking forward to the test results.

I have some carranuba here, It, much like beeswax it is a natural wax (although it's the hardest of the naturals) which helps its durability, Nufinish is a polyurethane based polymer I believe. I'm really interested in the true validity of UV claims. Again, if you got something you love and you want to see how it stacks up, I'm all over it. But I'm not buying. I'm already in the hole on these Vudu shrimp!

Juan, you are correct about easy on and off of the nufinish as compared to standard wax.

Wait. Let me make sure I understand this right. Your supposed to WAX boats and cars? Get real! Next thing you'll be telling me is that you have to wash them before waxing...

I waxed the majority of mine today with NuFinish... first time in years that I've waxed the interior too. I probably should have done it sooner because I couldn't see it, but apparently the white interior had faded a little.. The NuFinish has it shining like new again but it probably won't last long since I don't believe there's a wax made that will hold up in a saltwater environment for more than a couple of fishing trips.

Well if fish blood causes it to lose luster then you should be fine.... Now that is just cruel -- I wish I had thought of it!
