I don't know much about the digital Yamaha gages but that would be my bet. I have yet to see a fuel gauge go bad, its almost always the sending unit or wiring. The sending unit works off of resistance much like a rheostat for your dash lights on your car. In the past, I have unhooked the wires and connected them together and see if the gauge pegs out (ie less resistance = more fuel in the tank. gage should peg out full unless your system works opposite). This would verify that the wiring and gage were ok thus leaving the sending unit as the only other culprit. I assume that this would work the same way on the digital Yamaha gages?
