I need a spare tire/wheel for the new (40 year old) bass boat trailer. It has 5 lug 13" wheels and the same size tires that's on the Sea Pro trailer... Question is: Are all 13" wheels the same.. car wheels and trailer wheels? or is there a difference in the bolt pattern? Will any 5 lug 13" wheel fit or are trailer wheel like car wheels? (I know you can't use Chevy wheels on a Ford, can you use Ford wheels on a boat trailer?)

Most 13" 5 lug rims are on a 4.5" pattern. There is a 5 on 5" diam version but not common. (Maybe old ford fiestas)
To measure a 5 lug pattern measure from the outside edge of one lug, to the center of the lug nearest to being across from it.

Got it: but if most all 5 lug patterns are the same, can I just go to a junk yard and get a 13" wheel & tire that will fit the boat trailer?

I don't see why not as long as it's the same width.

I thought about the load rating and it not being rated like a trailer tire but the boat is light and I'm just looking for something cheap that will get me home should I have a flat. A trailer wheel and tire is about $130 where I can pick up one at the local junk yard for about $25. emthup

bolt pattern like you guys are onto here and the axle size too.
If the axel hole on the wheel does not go over the trailer axle, well you know.
If the axle hole on the wheel does go over it but its not snug then you have to get a spacer. (being forward you should get a spacer but if it fits the pattern and its not moving then i wouldn't worry about the spacer.

Got sum hub caps but they won't fit over the buddy bearings.

After that you can bet I was glad to pay $130 for a quality tire and wheel, INCLUDING the spare.

Probably wise advice Capt. and I think I may do as you suggest and get a "real" spare even if I won't be pulling that boat more than about 30 miles one way in any direction. I found wheels with biased tires selling on Amazon and I can get a spare, a mount to mount it on the trailer and a lock for the mount for $83. Sounds like a bargain.

If you have a tractor supply nearby, they have some pretty good prices on trailer tire/rim combos as well. (not galvanized however)

Thanks freeze....that's one of the first places I checked...and as you said, they have a white steel wheel for the same price as the local Wally World.. ($99.00) I need a spare more for peace of mind than anything else, so I'm going as cheap as possible.
I'm ordering the same but cheaper one from Amazon. emthup

Got sum hub caps but they won't fit over the buddy bearings. UPDATE: After getting a spare tire and getting it mounted on the trailer, I drilled a whole in the center of the Walmart plastic hub caps with a hole saw so the buddy bearings would fit in the hole and put them on .. Believe it or not, they look good! Closest thing to mag wheels that boat trailer will ever see and cost less than $25..
