Found the start of pitting in my midsection. I am now finding tons of threads where yamaha knew of this issue in there 225 models, but aren't helping anyone. Does anyone know if there is a paint that can be used to slow the process? Sounds like many other owners had some horror stories with this and I d like to nip it in the bud.

Hey Tod, I sure hope your not talking about the exhaust corrosion issue??, that is a known problem. If it's external I'm sure you could sand that down and repaint. Post some pics if possible

I've read that corrosion was a problem on the 2002 thru 2004 225 hp models and that Yamaha wasn't fixing the issue but haven't heard of problems after that... Is this still a problem on the 225's? What model year is yours?

I will post a picture, but it is inside the midsection. My boat a 2005 model, however, seems to me the motor was made in 2004. My paperwork is at a different location than the boat, so I need to confirm the year. Regardless I have mild corrosion starting and looking for ideas to correct before it gets worse....

Sendd over the pictures (take a bunch). Not sure what you mean by midsection. And everyone has a different gauge of "some" "a little" "the start of" corrosion lol (Juan how do i put "this thread is worthless without pictures"??). So take the pics and well take a look for you. Also, Juan is spot on with 2002 to 2004 if this is the exhaust corrosion and gnrphil is right about the replacement (you doth have to get a new motor or anything). Buttttt i don't know that you would see the exhaust corrosion until you pull the thing apart. Pics!!

In due time Juan. I live two hours away from my boat. Planned on working on it today, but it's raining and suppose to rain all day. I was going to go anyhow just to look at my paperwork on when the motor was manufactured because it's killing me to know if I got a bad one from 2004.
