What do y'all do for strapping down your boat at the transom? I run these big transom tie down straps and never liked them. Then today I realized the one rubbed the boat really bad down through the paint. Of course now I am pissed off and need a different way to secure my transom!

I hook my big giant straps to eye bolts in the bunk boards that extend beyond the transom. You appear to have trim tabs that may interfere with that, but it might be worth a try.

I think your problem is with the buckle and not the strap.. The strap won't do that. Can you adjust the strap so that the buckle is closer to the trailer and away from the gel coat? If not, you may need straps with smaller buckles.

Good point 'Cross. I use the same kind. No metal to gelcoat contact whatsoever.

I have some like that (but with rubber coated "S" connectors on the bass boat but have the ratchet type on the Sea Pro. The clamp type work so much better.

BTW here is a question for everyone. How many of you release pressure on tie downs for storage? Thanks a lot! Now I have something else to worry about... I've always released the tension on the winch strap but never even considered the transom tie downs.

Thanks fellas! I usually remove the transom straps when I get home and slightly loosen the winch strap.
