Current engine is a 2004 Optimax 200. Was out this the family this weekend and started getting a 4 beep alarm every couple of minutes. Engine did not go into guardian mode just had the alarm. Pulled the cowl at the dock and checked for water in the vapor tank as well as changed the filter with brand new one. Did not find any sign of water in the fuel so i checked to make sure that the oil tank under the cowl was full. Both checked out. Was taking the boat back to the hill to put on the trailer and the engine went into guardian mode. Will not turn up past fast idle and continuous alarm sounds. Could this be caused by a bad sensor in the oil tank or a bad fuel water sensor. Just asking for suggestions just in case it is a easy fix before i take it in to get hooked up to the laptop. Thanks

Could be any of the things SC suggested...And as you said, it could also be a bad or sticking oil level sensor. If it's like the sensor on a Yamaha, it's just a float...if it's just stuck, it's an easy fix.

My 03 200 Optimax has a steady alarm right now. I changed both thermostats and the water pump. Still an issue. Think I have it narrowed down to the temp sensor on the compressor. Will know for sure Thursday when the part arrives.

Looks like problem is faulty oil tank float. After some research it is a common problem. Bypassed the sensor and bingo no alarm. New tank on order. Thanks for the sugestions .

I had the same issue on my Merc. Replaced the tank/float assembly. Not difficult to do.

This did end up being the temp sensor! She is running great again!
