This is for all of us in the Mercury family! I wanted to share following reading another thread on the forum. If you ever have a problem with your motor and/or want to tackle a job yourself, I always used to call Merc Outboard Support directly. They are always a great help in helping you determine a problem/fix/where to get a part and they will even email you the schematics based on your engines specific serial number if you have it, or the schematic based on your year. I always used to call with the number because I for some reason have a very specific generation, Murphy's Law. But after hours and hour reading forums and googling stuff a few years back I finally had the lightbulb on to call and they have been amazing. Also very friendly/easy to deal with. And for the Verado owners. I have the Verado service manual for 175 and up. Never hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions/need a schematic. Here is the phone number: 920-929-5040 and Website (calling is best): www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/contact/outboard-customer-assistance

You think they might tell me where I can find parts to an 80's model Quicksilver control box?

Hey Juan, did you ever give them folks a call at the link I posted on the original thread that you started? Like I said, they have parts for all types of motors, not just Yami's, new OEM and used parts. They are an old house that was converted into a warehouse, chock full of stuff that go way back. If they can't help, maybe they can lead you in the right direction. They are located here in Hollywood Florida..It's up to you. Here's something that might be of interest, might be good for parts. you really should try that place in Hollywood tho .........just saying..Good luck buddy.. www.ebay.com/itm/Mercury-Quicksilver-Control-Box-/121661260647?hash=item1c53938367&vxp=mtr

You think they might tell me where I can find parts to an 80's model Quicksilver control box? Yup! Directly quoted from the website Classic Mercury Hotline If your engine was built between 1939 and 1989, and you have the serial number, give us a call. 920-929-5200

Thanks guys, gtightline, I didn't call the number on the link you posted but maybe I should have.. after looking at their site, it didn't look like they would carry the parts but I guess it won't hurt to call and ask.
I'll get the serial number tomorrow and call both places. maybe one or the other carries the parts or can tell me where to find them.

Classic Mercury Hotline 920-929-5200 Thanks yolo, I called the Mercury Outboard Tech Support number above: BE ADVISED: It's a pay per use number. A credit card is required and $20. is charged to your credit card before you get to talk to anyone. They might be able to solve your problem and might not... personally, It's not for me. I'm too cheap to pay $20 to chance asking a question and not getting an answer. There are too many free open forums where the info might be found.

Simple Man, what does 'Sticky' mean in this context? I've seen you make this comment a couple of times recently and I don't understand. Is this some new Alabama slang? Crabs

It's moderator talk for "it stays on top", making it easier to find... It doesn't float down the page like other threads that aren't sticky.

It is Alabama slang as well... just a different meaning than the web forum definition!
