I have SV 2100 with a 150 Merc. and it has a SS 19 3 blade prop. It works pretty good but I added a super Hydrofoil for about $50 and it literally jumps on plane now and increased top speed to 55mph. slight increase in fuel savings. Capt. Bill

Bill Do you have an opti 150 & what is brand or name of prop you running? Was your speed gps? It's hard to believe you are getting 55mph with 150..

It's hard to believe you are getting 55mph with 150.. ...I was turning a little over 6000 with a 225 Mercury 4 stroke( Yamaha built) 21P Michagan Apollo wheel running 52 mph... Yeah. See my post above. Those are GPS speed numbers. I feel sure Capt. Bill is reading a pitot tube fed speedometer to get his numbers.

Agreed. I get about 39.5 MPH on the GPS at 61-6200 RPM with my 150 V-rod turning a 19P Vensura. My 206CC is about the same size and weight. Thought about adding a hydrofoil. Figured I might pick up a MPH or two. I don't know how you'd get up to 55. If so I'd like to know that setup myself. How the heck do you insert those quotes in the boxes? Never have been able to figure that out.

I recently purchased a 2007 SV2100, with T-top, and with 2006 200hp Verado Gen1. The Verado came with a 15p Mercury Mirage SS prop. With that prop @ WOT and trimmed up, I'm getting ~5400rmp and ~39mpg. I thought to improve by installing a Stiletto 14.25 x 19p which gave me @ WOT ~4500rmp and ~41mpg. The motor came lifted up to the second to the last hole where as the cavitation plate is maybe an inch or so below the boat.
I read where it should be around 6100rmp and 49mph. It's like the motor doesn't have enough throttle. I'm confused.
Any ideas?

The motor came lifted up to the second to the last hole where as the cavitation plate is maybe an inch or so below the boat. That could be the problem right there, Anti ventilation plate should be level or slightly above the hull. Now i know all hulls ride different so check if you can see the plate when up on plane and trimmed correctly, you should see it just above the water or right on the top.

Sounds to me like you need to drop a couple of inches in pitch... should be turning between 5800 and 6400 rpms at WOT

SC is spot on that's why I said not all hulls are the same, with what I've learned there's no definitive answer on measurements you just have to do it with trial and error to get the plate looking something like the video . Then you might try a different prop and it might change again.

Since the focus turned to the height of the motor I decided to double check and take pics.
Below is a pic of the motor trimmed all the way down. I pulled a string to better visualize.
Below is a pic of the motor trimmed up ~2.8 so that it is square with the hull.

I would raise it just to see the effect, can't do any harm and I bet you'd pick up rpm and a little speed.

Yes sirs, second hole from the bottom. I can only lift the engine one more hole and it's approximately an inch. I do have a chain-fall and an oak tree. :-)
I will try that as soon as I can and will report back the results. Any other ideas, please comment.

Just so you know, you can get 100 opinions / suggestions and they might all be different. As said before, each boat's hull performs differently for one reason or another. There are far too many factors that can alter your performance for there to be any one fix. Boat's weight, hull design, how the boat's loaded, motor size, weight and configuration, and prop dimensions just to name a few. The opinions you've gotten are all valid and MIGHT be what you need to do to achieve the performance you want but then again, they might not.. They will all get you close... In the ball park... but you're already there. You now need to fine tune by trying various set ups. I have the same boat model but different motor.. mine is in the same mounting hole that yours is... second from the bottom, my cavitation plate actually appears to be a bit higher than yours, and I'm within 100 rpms of where I want to be. If I were you, I'd be experimenting with props. There are several prop calculators out there that might help you dial it in. Good luck

Yep as Southern Cross said this is fun, I mentioned earlier about getting it set then things changing if you change your prop. Here's why, I raised my motor and had a speed gain/fuel economy is where I want it and slip numbers where good, I was running a 19 pitch mercruiser prop which was too much pitch for me so I went back to my 15 pitch prop and now the AV plate is buried again. Go Figure .

FWIW, my '02 2100 / 150 Yamaha came with a 14x19 3 blade. Had WAY more WOT speed than I needed but as I recall the RPMs were up out of range. The problem I was having was in gear I was running 7mph, not slow enough to troll for stripers. Dropped to a 14.5 x 17 which reduced the WOT RPMs within range and slowed my trolling speed.

Great point seagristle....Here's one for you. I replaced my prop not long ago with the same exact prop that was one it. My RPM's came up, but has the same wot speed and performace as with the old prop, go figure....Maybe my tach is going bad. It's just weird because both props are the same..
