It is recommended to yearly pull the pencil coils off and relube them yearly to prevent corrosion. This is a good practice. I have had a low rpm miss on my motor for two years now that has progressively gotten worse. I changed the plugs out and found significant corrosion on the #4 cylinder. I changed the pencil coil out too since I had a spare, it runs like a new motor now! Don't procrastinate! I did and cost myself a lot of fuel mileage and performance. I also bought a 4 blade Quicksilver Q4 prop that really improves the mid range performance of my boat as well. I recommend a 4 blade for a spare if you're in the market.
