Hi- I'm looking at two identical 2005 used 190CC with "T" tops. One has the Yam 115 4 Stroke, the other has a Yam 150 2 Stroke (carb model). Does anyone have experience with both? Thanks Savoir

I've had and still have both and prefer a 4 stroke over a 2 stroke any day... but both are good motors with each having advantages and disadvantages over the other and either will push a 190CC with no problem. If I were you, I'd base my decision on which motor has the fewest hours on it. You'll probably get better mileage with the 4 stroke over a carbed 2 stroke but the 150 2 stroke will probably run faster.

Thanks for the input. I'm excited about the boat, but just can't decide wether the 115 4S will get it up on a plane.

I have a '01 2100 with a 150 Yammie 2 stroke. I wanted a 4 stroke when I bought it but they only had 115s back then. If I had it to do over I would go with the 4 stroke but only because I found I rarely run WOT on the Chesapeake Bay; unless it's like glass the boat will beat me to death. The 190 has a steeper deadrise I believe and depending on your body of water that might be less of a problem, but I think a 115 will be plenty of power
I'd also check with other 190/115 4 owners on the appropriate prop for your setup. Can make a huge difference in hole shot
