The Wesco I got with the boat is now 15 years old. Pricing out options for a new single axle, aluminum bunk trailer without brakes vs a complete overhaul and if I go new I could move up to 15". I had my mind made up to put Kumhos on the next set of tires but they only come in 14". I suppose could go with Marathon radials. I'd probably have to launch the trailer deeper with 15"? If I stick with 14's I wouldn't have to buy a new spare wheel. Any other thoughts, considerations?

As you said... 15" will need to be deeper at launch which in my case would mean the back tires on the truck would be in the water...I think they would ride rougher and I'm not sure the trailer fenders wouldn't be too high on the trailer..IDK but they might also ride a little cooler if you trailer long distances. I have 13" wheels and tires on my tandem trailer and depending on the ramp slope, I sometimes still get my feet wet. Personally, I'd go with the 14" wheels.

You're only talking about a 1/2" of height at the axle, I'd go with the one you prefer.

I recently re trailered my 1900 on an EZ Loader and I love it. I did a lot of research and priced lots of options. The EZ Loader frame style allowed the boat to set deeper in the trailer. It pulls, loads, and hauls much better than before. Anyway, I went with the 14" wheels and they seem to be doing fine.

No reason to go bigger. If you go bigger then your going to have less tire or your going to have to change everything out (spare ect). And, while not much, your gonna have more weight.
And you have a tire preference that has 14.

been awhile since I posted but this thread caught my eye. I have a 2006 sv 1900 on a 2006 magic tilt single axle trailer no brakes. Some years ago I was looking for 14 inch tires for my trailer and stumbled upon the kumho 857 radial. They were the only d load rated 14 I could find so I went with them. Gave me great service for 4 years. needed new ones and ordered some, big mistake! It seems that the first ones I got were manufactured in korea a country known for its quality plastic and tire products. The newer kumhos are now manufactured in china and Vietnam and might as well be thrown in the heaping pile with all the other [china bombs). Both of the newer kumhos were junk, one blowing out on highway at 60 miles an hour the other starting to separate with only a couple hundred miles. Look at some of the places that carry them, they either have limited stock or have quit handling them period. Goodyear has now come out with the new AMERICAN MADE endurance trailer tire. That's right finally an American made trailer tire. They are made at the Gadsden Alabama plant. The new endurance are available in 14,15,and 16 inch sizes and are all load range d or e. I have brand new 205 75 r 14's load range d rated 2040 lbs single and 1820 dual both at 65 psi cold. These have been out since the beginning of the year and the reviews so far have been good. Don't usually like being a guinea pig but sick of the unregulated Chinese junk out there and I helped an American based plant.

Since reviews are still scarce about the American made Goodyear endurance st radial, I thought I would write one. Bought my 205 70 r 14 endurances back in the summer for the sv1900 on a single axle magic tilt. Put about 150-200 miles on them locally back and forth to lake and thought they rode very well tracked very true and stayed room temp to the touch running as fast as 60-65. The real test came when we just went on our annual fall trip to Destin. I made sure both tires were inflated to 65 psi cold and you could probabally call me anal when it comes to bearing and spindle maintenance, and I was very impressed with the tires on the trip from Knoxville to Destin, about 1100 miles round trip running pretty steady at 65-70. They never got warmer than room temp same thing with aluminum wheels and hubs were cool also. Although it is not that many miles I like the tires. If anyone is need of a 14 d rated trailer tire you should look hard at the endurance made in the good ole USA.

Is this a tire question thread or are you asking about rebuilding your old trailer v/s purchasing a new trailer with 15 wheels? Original Post "The Wesco I got with the boat is now 15 years old. I see dual axle torsion with brakes, aluminum frame trailers all set up on craigslist for under 2k starting price... Assuming you were talking about doing the rebuild yourself, why not shop around and go for a dually with 15". I am in Sarasota and will be selling my single torsion axle set up for the cc2100 in two weeks or so. All ss hardware. In the process of rebuilding a dualy, aquired dirt cheap, cause I want to start trailering further then 100 miles on a weekly basis. Count three canidants less then 20 miles from me. sarasota.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=boat+trailer&sort=date

No intention of derailing 'your thread' and always interested in reviews of products troutslayer . I was just trying to address the original post by Seagristle's .

It's cool should have been put under a different heading anyway.
