In the process of repowering with a Suzuki DF150, I spoke to five different Suzuki dealers and I thought I'd pass along some of their comments just in case anyone is considering repowering or buying a Suzuki outboard.
1. They stated their 6 year warranty would stop in Sept. of this year... I didn't ask what they would offer after Sept.
2. One dealer swore that the 140 hp engine would out run the 150s. He claims it's faster because it weighs less. (3 of the other dealers said there's no truth to that)
3. One said the 150 SS would out run the 175s and 200s but it only comes in black and is intended for bass boats.
4. Shop around.... I wanted a white motor and got five different prices from five different dealers to get white over charcoal. (ranging from $100 to $400 extra)
I don't know how much (if any) of the above is true... just thought I'd pass along their comments..

Don't know about the rest of the stuff but's it's my understanding there's no extra charge for a white motor with Suzuki, there is with Yamaha.

I paid $200 to get the white. As far as the 6 year Warranty, I think they stop it every September and bring it back just in time for repower season. It's a lot like free shipping at Cabelas. #4 is definitely a fact.

Interesting, buddy of mine has a white one and didn't pay a dime extra for it.

Interesting, buddy of mine has a white one and didn't pay a dime extra for it. He got a deal but I bet they added the cost for a white one in his bill somewhere. All 5 places I got quotes from charged extra for the white ones... I got mine for $104.

Speaking of "adding it in there somewhere"... The Yamaha shop that tore my Yamaha apart charged $220 to break it down and was going to charge another $185 to put it back together.. I told them to leave it apart. The final bill to disassemble it was: $220. Labor $17.95 Shop materials (what kind of materials are used to remove bolts and screws? ) $38.00 Tax ( I always thought you can't be charged tax on labor?) They're gonna get ya one way or the other.

Yeah, they aren't supposed to tax labor, maybe they have a 200% tax on parts though!

According to Suzuki the 150 and 175 have the same displacement (174.9 cu. in) The 200 is an inch larger (175.9) The 140 is smaller with 124.7 cu in.

I'm wondering the same thing... Since the displacement and even the bore and stroke (97x97) and gear ratio is the same on both I'm guessing the difference has to be something to do with the amount of fuel that reaches the pistons. Maybe a chip in the computer or the size of the injectors?

Honda does that with their engines... the 200 and 225 have the same displacement, they just put different computers in them to tune them down or up.
