Hey All,
Would it be worth it to upgrade to a 2003 Suzuki DF140 with ~680 hours. Currently I have a 2001 Mercury 125 with ~450 hours.
My Thought was repower my SeaPro 190cc with the Suzki and move the 125 over to my project boat.

This depends on how much this upgrade will cost you and your personal preferences. If the Suzuki has been well cared for and isn't dying from the inside out it should offer you many, many more hours of service.

Seller asking $1,500. His reason for selling he bought the boat and repowering it. I put roughly 15-20 Hours on my motor a year so I'm hoping last me quite a long time. I'm looking for a quieter motor, little faster speed and better MPG. I am getting roughly 1-2MPG.

Cross hit it on the head. Do an internet search for Suzuki outboard plug corrosion. If they did the fix it might be a good deal.

Does this $1,500 include the controls, gauges and prop? If so, it is a tremendous bargain (again, assuming motor is good). Otherwise, those items will cost you several hundred more dollars.

The NADA average retail on a 2003 DF140 is $2,730 without any accessories. I thought it would have been higher but it's still a great deal at $1500 (assuming there's nothing wrong with it)

Apparently doing nothing is much worse than the fix. Cross, I'd seriously consider fixing it and getting many more years out of it. From what I've read, ignoring it is certain impending death in saltwater situations. That's my $0.02. Theres a few youtube videos on how to fix it involving 50-200 bucks to

A little heat wouldn't hurt either.

Kroil is a penetrating oil, good stuff but if you want something that beats all others mix 50/50 acetone and automatic transmission fluid. Penetrates about any joint then the acetone evaporates leaving the ATF.

Gtinga, that's the kind of stuff you just can't find out about in books. Can you mix it and store it for future use or will it blow up?
