Hey all. I lost key to pin that holds ball to hitch in truck. How do i remove? Reciprocating saw? Any other ideas?

Reciprocating saw with a metal blade would be my first choice, followed by a high speed grinder with a cutoff wheel.

You might check to see if the key number is printed anywhere on the lock. Many times you can get a replacement key for not much depending on the brand.

Assuming it's the same pin as mine, I'd do as freezer suggested and look for a lock number, Next, I'd try hitting it with a hammer, then I'd break out the grinder or the cutting torch or better yet.... I'd just leave it connected. That's some seriously tough steel and going to be a real pain to cut.

Angle grinder will get you out of that pickle in less than 15 min.. I keep a second set of all my trailer associated keys in the glovebox. But I also keep a set at the garage and another at home. Only needed same to happen once.

I say the same as freezer. Checking number first then use the saw. But I would use a saw like the dremel multi max or orther type of oscillating saw. Becuase you need a little more precision there.
Or you could just drill the key lock out.

you could just drill the key lock out. That right there is probably the best and quickest solution and you wouldn't damage the pin should you be able to get a replacement lock.

Yep. Big enough, or biggest you have, drill bit so you can get the whole lock out. Spray a little WD 40 on it so the metal on metal stays lubed.

.... I'd just leave it connected. That's some seriously tough steel and going to be a real pain to cut. I'd leave it hooked up for now too. Heck, mine stays in my receiver all the time and my boat stays in a lift 99% of the time. In the meantime, get with the pin manufacturer or a local locksmith to get a replacement key.
