Hello Juan, trout here, wondering a few things about the ulterra. First have you had any issues, I am referring to the one on the dragon for salt. Do you have ipilot or ipilotlink and what thrust and voltage you have and why. I have always been a motorguide guy but like what I see with the ulterra. Looking real hard at the 24volt 80lb 60inch for the 1900 sv. currently run a motorguide 24volt 60in 80lb hand control on a gator mount. great motor but a pain in the rump to lift and stow and I really like the spot lock feature on the ulterra. Please your review.

Hey Trout. I have the one you are considering. 24volt 80lb 60inch. I LOVE IT! No problems what so ever. I like leaving it deployed in spot lock and going back to the helm, starting the big motor and then pushing a button on the remote and having the trolling motor stow it's self. The auto deploy and stow are back savers. It has bluetooth and can be operated from an app on a smart phone which is pretty cool but useless imo. The gps is far more accurate than the older models and the spot lock will hold you within 3 ft of where you hit the button... also has a jog feature that will move you in any direction in 5' increments. Plus the track record, cruise control and all the other options the older models have. If there's anything I don't like about it... you can't run a transducer cable up the shaft like you can on other models... that caused me to do away with the depth finder I had on the bow and put a swivel mount on the one on the console. So now I have to swivel the depth finder toward the bow so I can see it.

I don't have first hand info, but all my second hand info echoes what Juan says. My older gen spot lock is great if there's no wind, but it sounds like the next generation is about 10X better. I'm about to bite!

I am gonna miss my front depth finder, but I think I will get over it. I pulled the trigger on the riptide ulterra 24v 8lb 60in motor today. Like Juan said, my console mounted hummingbird was already in a Johnny Ray swivel mount and can do .a full 180 inside my windshield so I can at least look at that from the front.

Well Congratulations. I'm sure you will love it and you'll get used to looking at the console gps like I have but I'm not sure 8lb of thrust is enough. rofl p.s. You might want one of these too... Wife gave me one for Christmas. Fits great and slips on and off in a heartbeat.

I guess I forgot how to spell 80. Cover is nice, maybe later. Purchased the rta -17 quick release bracket for mine so I can take it on and off.

You could always epoxy a transducer shoot thru hull in the back of the boat and run the cable up front. Sonar data would be coming from the back but you could still watch it up front like you are accustomed to.

I thought about doing that on mine but figured it would just be overkill since the transducer for the chartplotter on the console reads from back there and I can swivel that one toward the bow.

Well I played hooky from work on Tuesday and took the boat to Cherokee lake to sea trial the riptide ulterra. Wow. Simple Man was right what a game changer, and thank you Juan for the live answers and the pics. The pics helped me decide where to mount things. I decided to mount mine on a quick release bracket RTA 17. I recess bolted the puck to a 6 3/4 by 18" x 3/4 thick piece of star board which is in turn mounted to to the nose of the boat. Worked great on the water and will enable me to take off and on the boat as needed. The remote for the I-pilot was easy to use even for a flip phoner like met Tried out the features and did some casting from the front bass fishing style just to get the feel and loved it. I will try to get the wife to take pics of my mount and post but troutslayer is very low tech.

I knew you'd love it. Best invention since toilet paper! Hope you get many years of trouble free use out of it.. The only problem I've had with mine was the day shortly after installing it when it wouldn't deploy and I fished all day long without the trolling motor. Got home, read the instructions and realized I was pushing the wrong buttons on the remote. 021 I put the instructions in the boat that day and haven't had any issues since.

The riptide ulterra with I-pilot is just like simple man said a game changer. On my recent trip to Destin the trolling motor made bottom fishing in the gulf super easy, and also made fishing near east pass's jetties a breeze. Minn Kota has hit a home run with the improved gps and that spot lock anchor and jog feature are the cat's meow.
