I have an appointment to get a Terrova 112 36V installed next week. I choose the 60 inch shaft length. Is this the right length for this boat?

60" is perfect on my 2100 and I'd think it's just right for the 2400 too. The 24 V, 80 lb thrust would probably be all you need on that hull unless you fish some really strong current. Have you looked at the Ulterra? The self deploy and retrieve alone make a day of fishing a lot easier.

60" should be perfect.

If you fish offshore in 2-3' seas, the foot might come out of the water a good bit.
I have a 60" on my SV19 and 2 weeks ago, the foot came out every 3rd or 4th wave. But 90% of the time when I fish, 60" is the right length. The waves just so happened to build some in the afternoon that day.
When the foot starts cavitating, its my gentle reminder that I'm in a bay boat and should start heading in.

Thanks for all the replies. I decided on the 112 just because I would rather have to much than not enough. I plan on using it while bottom fishing and also catching bait under the skyway, so I figured I should get the extra thrust. As for the Ulterra vs terrova I was thinking about getting the Ulterra but herd of some issued they had getting stuck down or up (newer models are suppose to be good now). I figured Im usually fishing with a buddy so I can make them go put it down and up 😂. Good to hear the length should be good. I figure if it gets choppy and the foot starts coming out I can always throw a traditional anchor or as bbbb said time to come in. I’m new to the forum and looking forward to chatting with you guys. I’ll post some pictures next week when it all done.

I've heard a couple of the horror stories about the first model Ulterras getting stuck in the down position too. One claimed he had to motor all the way back to the dock with the trolling motor deployed. The problems I heard were all "user error" problems. People need to read their owner's manuals. There's a way to raise the motor in the rare chance it got stuck in the down position. I have two buddies who bought the first model Ulterras shortly after they were introduced and neither has had the first problem. but I watched them closely before buying mine and glad I did since by waiting I got the newer improved model and love it. Hardly ever use the power pole any more. bbb made a good point about the 60" shaft leaving the water in rough seas. Doesn't happen often but mine has done the same and I've got half the size motor on the stern you have. With the weight of that 300 on the transom, it will happen if it get's choppy or it hits a big wake while deployed and if it's on Spot Lock when it happens, it can cancel the locked position.

Yes I hope I don’t have any issues with it coming out of the water, that would defy the whole point of having it. I did not know the spot lock canceled out if it comes out of the water, that is good to know. Thanks again for all the replies, looking forward to getting it on the boat and trying it out. I will definitely post some pictures and let you guys know how it does.

Spot lock won't cancel if the foot comes out of the water. At least mine does not. What it can do is.....on re-entry into the water, the shaft can slide up and come out of the "lock collar". The motor will then go into "search mode" spinning left and right. I carry a small bungie that I can wrap around the head and collar to keep them together when its rough out.

Mine doesn't cancel either. I have a 60" and my bow is at least 10" higher than yours. It will cavitate in 2-3' seas. Fishing off the bow helps.

Spot lock won't cancel if the foot comes out of the water. At least mine does not. Mine did and it's happened to others. It wouldn't do it every time, but the spot lock would certainly cancel out. That was my old one and maybe it had an issue I wasn't aware of. Haven't had the Ulterra do it yet but figured only because I haven't been in rough enough seas to cavitate the prop. Good to know not all of them do it.

Yea I think if it cavitates every once in awhile in rough seas it won’t bother me. It’s kinda to be expected I guess. Good to know spot lock won’t cancel because that would get frustrating. I’ll try fishing from bow like freezerfiller said. With the weight of the Suzuki 300 two batteries and the live well full it does get a little heavy in the stern, even get water coming through scuppers in th rear when a few people stand in the rear. This happen to anyone else? Should I replace scuppers? Also I have the fresh water wash down tank in the console. When I dropped the boat today for the trolling motor install they said they may have a hard time fitting three batteries in there. Looks like plenty of room to me, but have any of you had a hard time getting three batteries to fit?

"I decided on the 112 just because I would rather have to much than not enough. " Same goes for length.
I have a riptide 36volt on my 21. Went for the 72" shaft . When I am skinny it is way up in the air, but when I go deep I drop it down to the deck. You can alway adjust it up but remember when the control head is on the deck you can not get it deeper. Consideration if you ever use it for reef fishing. The extra 12"s do not make a difference on the deck. Head unit still inside the gunnels. I put my batteries in the bow. Helped the ride and balance of the boat. Been covered in other threads recently.
