looking for prop suggestions. I have a 2004 Sea Pro SV2100 with a '05 Yamaha F150 TXRD. Had some problems with it early on but I think I may have solved the major issues. My current issue is that I can get no more than 5000 rpms at WOT with full fuel tank (58 gallons), full livewell and 2 people. Would this be the normal range of rpms with this sort of load or should I be getting more? I get out the hole great, just low rpms, runs mid 30s. I currently have a rapture 14.25x17p and a friend of mine said I should try a 15 pitch prop. When looking online for other props, I have no luck finding a 14.25x15p. Any help would be appreciated.

First confirm your motor isn't mounted too low, a buried motor will loose RPM. Second confirm your firing on all cylinders or don't have a low compression in one cylinder. I'm surprised you can't run max rpm with that prop.

Thanks for the post - I have a similar issue and been thinking about switching props. I have the same boat, motor, but with a 19 pitch rather than a 17 pitch - rapture 14.25x19p. I don't know the specs before I bought it because I added a heavy trolling motor on front, 2 batteries in the console, 2 in the back, etc. which clearly changed how it runs. By myself, I can get 52000 RPMs at WOT which is low for the motor, but it tops out at 45 MPH. Here are the specs I clocked this past weekend: 4000 RPM - 33 MPH 4500 RPM - 38 MPH 5200 RPM - 45 MPH The performance bulletin for the boat/motor on the Yamaha site said they ran a 13-3/4 x 17 yamaha prop - 6G5-45978-03-98. I had to go back and find it because it was removed from the Yamaha site a year or two ago. link - archived yamaha performance bulletinI am wanting to try a 17 or likely 15 prop and see if that helps get the RPMs up, but not sure exactly what it will do to the top end. I might just buy a cheap $100 aluminum prop at 15P to test the numbers and see if it really changes any of the speeds or it the speeds stay about the same and only run higher RPMs. Please reply back your numbers and the prop you try if you switching things up and I will do the same. - Jason

If youre getting 45mph and not having a problem with hole shot, I wouldn't touch it unless you're determined to burn more fuel. I might try a 17p and keep the loser as a spare, but I think 15 would just get you slower speed at max rpms.

So what did you end up doing? I have the same boat/motor/ prop. I just put refurbished injectors in last week and have not run the boat since. I was getting 5300 RPMs, around 42 mph. I would LOVE 600 more rpm. I am going to run the boat in the morning to see if I picked up any rpms. Funny thing, my tach read 6000, but my NMEA2000 network showed 5300. After cleaning tach contacts and rotating potentiometers back and forth (and resetting to original RPMs, they read the same).

If you're also running a 17" pitch, you need to try a 15".

Juan, two questions. Are these two props the same (different part numbers), and is this THE PROP you had ( not just the same diameter and pitch)? Thanks man, it would be great to only spend 250 bucks!
