Is anyone else running an interface cable from their Suzuki to a NMEA 2000 network and then to a chartplotter to show and monitor engine functions? I'm trying to find out if the interface cable connects directly to the motor or if an adapter cable is required.

You'll have to have the interface cable to go from the motor to the NMEA network, and the same from your fishfinder if it doesn't come with it. T them into your network, and power them up and they should talk to each other. Tons of info on thehulltruth. search Suzuki network, or Suzuki nmea 2000

T them into your network, and power them up and they should talk to each other. Tons of info on thehulltruth. search Suzuki network, or Suzuki nmea 2000 I think I've read every thread on the internet (including THT) on the subject and get a couple of different answers. A Suzuki dealer in Florida where I ordered the interface cable from tells me that's all I need to connect to my NMEA 2000 network... then there's Suzuki.com that's telling me I will need an adapter cable that plugs into the engine and then the interface cable plugs into that and then into the nmea 2000. At this point I'm leaning toward the adapter cable being a requirement and I'm putting my faith in the experts at Suzuki.com and ordering an adapter cable. I have a Point One external antenna that's connected via nmew 2000 so I already had that. I've got an extra Tee connection and an extra nmea 2000 cable. I've ordered the latest Suzuki interface cable (Ver 3.5) for 2013 and newer Suzukis and now also ordered the adapter to connect from interface cable to motor. Every time I tackle a job I expect to be easy, it turns out to be an expensive PITA!!!

So is that your new fishfinder in the photo? No, I just grabbed that one off the internet as an example since mine hadn't arrived when I posted this. I think I have the same display on a Lowrance Elite 9 Ti. I needed a faster processor that would update quicker than my Elite 7 chirp and did a LOT of research before buying a new one. Had almost ordered a Lowrance Carbon for the faster processor until I discovered the Elite Ti also has a faster processor.. (Lowrance needs to advertise that fact better than they do.) Not sure I'm going to like the touch screen and it will take some getting used to but it's a big improvement over the old one. Now if it will just stop raining long enough for me to get it installed.

Still raining so probably won't get it installed any time soon so hooked it to a lawn mower battery in the boat shed just to check it out. It's got 3 different displays and you can edit each of those but I think I like this one. So far I've discovered that the C-Maps Chart that came with it isn't near as detailed as a Navionics Gold card so I won't be using the C map chart. My next problem is transferring waypoints from the old one to the new one... can't seem to get it right. 021
