Our STAR competition partner, Minn Kota trolling motors, has asked if our participants would like to help them by providing product insight on their motors! Minn Kota has partnered with Doyle Research, an independent research company, to interview current Minn Kota Riptide Ulterra and Ultrex owners in order to learn how their motors are performing. Complete a 3-minute questionnaire to see if you qualify for this rewarding opportunity or forward this email to someone you know who might! A limited number of qualified motor owners will be invited to participate in an on-boat interview and get compensated $350 for their time. To complete the qualification survey click bit.ly/OutdoorRecreational or copy and past in your browser.

I started to fill out the survey but they ask too many personal questions that aren't related to Minn Kota or anything fishing related. Makes me suspect it's just another advertisement scam.

Coastal Conservation Association put it out. www.ccaflorida.org/ They are a reputable group. Star tournament and all(which ended today) . I filled it out today 9/13 and they called me. Did about an 1/2 hour phone interview. It ended with asking if I would be interested in doing a on the boat interview. Think all the extra ?s are to see if you fit their target audience for a marketing campaign. Hope they chose me for the boat interview. I grew up in Wisconsin/Minnesota. Still have friends working for St Croix rods. Would like to have some friends working for Hummingbird/Minn Kota...

I'd like to see this too. Hopefully, there won't be four 300 pound dudes with fishing rods meet you at the ramp next week. If a good looking blonde shows up to do the interview, send her up here and I'll do an interview on the Ulterra free of charge. notworthy

Lady I talk to said it was a woman and her assistant. Drop it in the mail Monday, should be here by Wed. . Few years back when the mysterious white powder was being mailed to news organizations with a FLA postage stamp stuff was taking two weeks plus , but USPS seems to gotten tired of the extra screening. I will try to find out where they are going with this, and share as soon as I know. She said they were doing it in a couple locations in the state. Asked if I knew anyone with a fresh water model.

Interesting. I wonder if they only interview people with positive experiences?

Hey, while you're doing the interview... ask them a question for me. There are 4 indentions / slots on the motor (just above the base) on an Ulterra. Those indentions / slots catch and hold water when the motor is in the stowed position. They don't drain and they get water in them every time it rains or you wash the boat. I won't cover the trolling motor with water standing in the slots. I want to know if the slots can be filled with silicone or something similar to keep the water out with out harming the trolling motor. I've talked to Minn Kota twice and each time I got a reply that didn't answer my question.. Probably some part time help that didn't understand what I was asking because all they said was: "It isn't necessary because everything is sealed." I want to know if I can fill the slots. If thy're just for looks, it shouldn't be a problem but if they serve some purpose like heat exchange, then I'll know it can't be done... Just looking for a yes or no answer to "can I fill the slots with something?" here's a pic of the slots

Will do , I am putting a list togher . Like on my Helix I will spin it around the ram mount so I can view the side scan it from on the bow . Be cool if they have a red and green dot on the screen . Right and left mean nothing on a boat... My phone will work with the helix, the trolling motor will work with the helix, need to carry two more remotes for the two talons , turns into a choking hazard . They are big on all their products working together. I also want a splash drone to work with my helix or solix, like raymarines unit. Think I might get a consultant job out of this? Then I am gunning for Kevin Vandam's job.

That reminds me...Why can't the trolling motor remote work/control older model power poles and link with Lowrance chart plotters? Lowrance plotters will control the newer power poles and Motorguide trolling motors and Humminbird and Garmin will control Minn Kota (I think that's right) The trolling motors need to work with all plotters IMO.. Lowrance, Humminbird, Garmin, Simrad, and so on.. They'd sell a lot more trolling motors if they did.

Jaun passed it on. Will see if they get back. If it bugs you I would just pour some resign in there. Could add white.

Thanks. If I find out it won't hurt anything, I'll fill the slots with white silicone. How did the interview go?
