2019 it’s an new year and like my reels they received some work to make they had the stopping power to stop the monsters when I need it! So the trailer carrying the Fraydknot received some work for some serious STOPPING POWER!! No more surprises trying to stop the big rig Pulled the drums and installed stainless Kodiak disc!!

Sweet! If those things stop as good as they look you won't need brakes on your tow vehicle.

What did it cost to do the conversion?

What did it cost to do the conversion? That's kind of like asking a woman her age and how much she weighs. rofl

Just trying to save some leg work . Looks like about $400 an axle doing the install yourself, and already having a master/surge and lines installed with some fudge for new rubber hose to axles. . www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brakes/Kodiak/K2R35DS.html#/ Good job doing all four. Should make a huge boost in confidence towing in traffic.

I picked them up from Eastern Marine and it was just over 600 for all four but if you were over 500 you got a discount of 50.00!! I also replaced all the lines with new rubber version.. New year prepping I replaced all the wheel bearings on the third axle so she should be ready for the road!!! Go to EasternMarine.com their prices are almost impossible to beat!!!

UPDATE::: I took the boat out of the barn to give it a trial run with the new brakes and all I have to say is I should have done it a long time ago!!!!! Guys if you do any length of towing and even if you dont for the safety aspect alone well worth the upgrade!!!

I've been thinking about putting a set of the Kodiaks on my trailer. My rig isn't that hard to stop, so I have shied away from brakes because of the seizing problem that seems common. But a buddy of mine replaced his original disc brakes with the Kodiaks and hasn't had a problem with seizing in over two years now. And even though my rig isn't that hard to stop under normal conditions, an emergency stop can be a little hairy.

Tigerhead - That is one of the MAJOR reasons why I did the swap because last year I ALMOST had a accident when traffic was rolling and immedialty came to a stop!!!!! My F250 diesel almost didnt stop in time I almost had a Ford FOCUS as a hood ordiment!!!!! With these brakes I can't believe the difference.....
