Had to reach out to see if anybody had did the swap from the Verados or repowered to the new Mercury motors and was curious of its performance!! Have been considering repowering the Fraydknot but afraid of losing the Verado performance!,?.

I just repowered, with one of the last of the two strokes, but, I did look into the new motors. It is my understanding that the Sea Pro line from Mercury is a commercial or industrial engine. The RPM limit is lower. I believe its made for commercial fishermen or pushing barges.

From my twin 200 verados to the new 225’s. They are 200 pounds liter per motor! If the performance is there I would be gaining 50 hp and shedding just over 400 pounds of the back!!

Mercury Sea Pro 200 hp: 3.4L V-6 WOT 4600-5400
Mercury Standard 200 hp: 3.4L V-6 WOT 5000-5800
Mercury Pro XS 200 hp: 4.6L V-8 WOT 5600-6200
Youll never regret over powering your boat. Its easy to pull back on the throttle. You cant push it down past the console!

Dang!
I've got a 4.6L V-8 in one of my Expeditions. That's a lot of power. How much does that thing weigh in comparison to the others?

Sea Pro - 483 lbs Standard - 475 lbs Pro XS - 505 lbs
These are all "lightest models". That means the short shaft model. The long shaft that we all need weighs a little more, but that change will be the same for all these motors.

WOW that is some impressive numbers!! My Verado 200 is 678LBS each!!!! The boat will take 450HP max(which is was going to upgrade to 225hp) Do they operate on the Mercury Smart gauges. My boat is just shy of 8,500 lbs. Inline motors are notorious more torque than V motors was worried about losing the low end torque performance??

The new 4 stroke 225 Pro XS weighs the same as the 200, same block. Essentially the same engine with a few different parts and programming to fit in the governments guidelines. I would definitely go for the two 225's. Also, these new v-8's are supposed to be torque monsters. I have no first hand experience, just repowered with the last of the 2 stroke Pro XS's. I have done a good bit of research and talked with a few folks about the new engines. These new motors are supposed to close the 2 stroke vs 4 stroke gaps, power to weight, low end torque, throttle response, etc. Last fall when I needed a new motor, the new ones were 4 to 6 months out, and that wasnt a promise. So I found a brand new, last of the line, 2 stroke Pro XS, and got a good deal on it.

Sorry, I missed one of your questions. All the new Mercury Motors are fully Smartcraft compatible.
