It's trout and maybe flounder this time. 013 Personally I think if they keep reducing the creel limits Florida will lose money since those of us who live out of state and pay the high cost of fishing licenses, fuel, bait, gear, etc might find another hobby. They really should do a valid study before reducing catch limits. There may be some areas in Florida where catches should be reduced but not where I fish... (I caught 140 with 12 keepers last week...all released unharmed) These regulations are BS for both trout and red snapper. Just venting! I'll keep fishing but I don't like it one bit. myfwc.com/media/20102/5a-presentation-seatrout.pdf

Those are proposed regs. . Go to a meeting and bitch. Call your representatives, let them know you vote and spend money to fish(post their # at the boat ramps). Write a letter to the editor. You fish for more than trout right? I have been doing torture and release for ten + years now, only keeping gut hooks. Usually set a goal : inshore slam, trout over 24", red on top water, see how many fish I can catch on one specific type of lure, ect.. I mean I don't fault the cane pole crowd for putting everything they catch in their bucket to put food on the table. But for most of us more than dinner that night ... But my estuary is dead, glad they closed over 20" trout, should close the species here. Before the red tide hit anything under 20" was considered small trout. Now your are hard pressed to catch a spotted South of Tampa Bay.

It's too late to bitch and moan about it. They claim they've been considering doing this for two years now but this is the first I've heard of it and I'm sure I'm not the only one who was kept in the dark until the last minute. It certainly wasn't well publicized. These are proposed rules only because they haven't been implemented yet and they are destined to pass as early as May this year. I'm not saying some new rules on closures and limits aren't needed in some areas especially those effected by last year's red tide but new restrictions aren't needed in the areas I fish. Trout are as plentiful as ever. They're doing the same thing they did with red snapper and placing new limits and regulations on catches based on a flawed study. 013

Limits are crazy. Reason you can read the FWC report and see how many people don’t care on a weekly basis. I hear the fishing in Louisiana is unreal. They have super high limits because they are loaded. I will say, when fishing in the flats, I lose more fish to cormorants then to foul hooks, those bastards can swallow a 14 1/2” trout and still want another.

Well, they’re talking about lowering limits here too. I’m sure it will be way more than 3. Right now I’d be happy to find 3 trout. Don’t all you jokers move here.

Probably right . I remember going to the gill net meetings 20 some years ago. FWC had their minds made up and were just going thru the motions then.
