Ive mentioned my dissapointment with gulp not staying on the hook like it used to.. Well I stopped at a gas station near Perry, Fl and found a new bait that looks like a really promising alternative to Gulp. fishbites.com/product/4-butt-kicker-paddle-tail/ I picked up a few packs and will let you know my findings next week..

Be sure to let us know how tough they are and if they catch fish. I've recently discovered the toughest paddle tail swimbait I've tried. They outlast and out fish the gulps and Bass Assassin sea shad I had been using. Dockside Matrix shad. The Ultra Violet and Green Hornet colors have been killing it.

Damn, the secret is out. Now Juan has my fish and my bait!
Matrix Shad, developed in Slidell, LA and honed to perfection by Capt. Chas Champagne on the waters of Lake Ponchartrain, are formidable fish-catchers. Most folks around here use the yellow ones. I buy them direct in bags of 50. Pair them with an H&H Tackle Co. white jig head with the gold hook. Tight line or under a cork. I'll have to try the colors Juan mentioned.

I've been buying them in bags of 25 and that's the largest I've found. Threw them again yesterday and had good luck with the colors I mentioned and believe it or not the Pink Champagne too.

www.matrixshad.comThey even have bags of 100 (best value). I've caught some frisky Red Daddies on Pink Champagne. See also www.hhlure.com Look for jig heads in photo in various weights.

Thanks crabs. I had checked the matrix.com site and didn't notice the 50 and 100 packs. I actually found them cheaper than they are on the matrix site at Tackle This - Shoot That site. tacklethisshootthat.com/category/fishing/lures-soft-plastics/dockside/ 25 pack is 8 bucks and the 8 pack that usually sells for $3.59 is $2.88 so I stocked up on most of the color options but I'm sure I'll be buying more.

Me too but it's breaking my budget. Just placed another $80 order before they ran out.

The fishbites fight club worked perfectly. Tough as nails, stays on the jig head, and catches fish. While you can't be super scientific when you're trying to fish, I did the best I could and would say It caught fish equally well to gulp, and outlasted it 12:1. All I was able to get was the paddletail, but they do make a shrimp that I'd like to try.

What colors did you try? I'm partial to glow or white if I can't find glow.

They have different names but the copy of new penny and pearl worked the best.
