Bully for you . One of the things I pay my yamaha mech. for , too many small parts and gaskets . That said have rebuilt many carbs on motorcycles and cars. Found it best just to buy new sets and new o'rings each time. Sucks getting everything assembled to end up chasing a leak from a used compressed gasket. Full kit at most is $75 bucks with new reed cages, cut that in half without the reeds(reeds were where I always ended up getting leaks on my 2 stroke drag bike, that I tore down after each race session).

I completely agree with 'Skeeter 1) Good job for Yamaha mechanic and 2) Don't reuse gaskets/0-rings if not absolutely necessary.
You said you sprayed and blew your carbs and want to redo them. I talked with a mechanic once who claimed that the most effective cleaning method he'd come across was to simmer the carbs in 50/50 water and lemon juice for an hour or so. Follow that up with a nice gasoline rinse and you're good to go. Said the heat and the acid dissolved any varnish quickly.
Anyone ever heard of such a thing? I thought maybe I'd test this on a $30 lawnmower carb before I tried it on anything more elaborate.

I'm not a fan of using acid like lemon juice or Coca cola. I'd go with a good solvent like sea-foam or carb cleaner. Gets the varnish, but doesn't oxidize the metal. My $0.02.

If you just did the rebuild and the gaskets look like new, just stick them in a ziplock and remove as much air as you can. I agree new gaskets are preferred.

To let everyone know, I soaked carbs for 30-40 min this time and motor idles great. Learned the hard way not to take short cuts. Thanks for everyones reply Also took apart the fuel enrichment valve and soaked it. Now when I start engine it revs up a little higher than it used to, so had some blockage there too. Thought that was interesting
