I have the Navionics Boating HD app on my phone and I use it to mark waypoints, record my trails and send them to Google Earth. It's a great app but I can't figure out how to get it installed on a computer. Anyone know how? I read that I can install an android emulator on my laptop and then use the app that's on my android phone. Never tried anything like that either. Any advice?

Is Google Earth running on your computer? How do you send waypoints/trails to GE?

Is Google Earth running on your computer? How do you send waypoints/trails to GE? Email them to myself from the Navionics Boating HD app then save them in a folder. Open Google Earth and import them from the folder where I saved them and then they show up in Google Earth.

Thanks phil. It brings up the chart but the waypoints that are on the app don't show up on the computer. How do I sync them? Looks like you have to have the mobile app. I can make and record waypoints, trails and routes on the mobile app but can't on the computer. I can send all the data to Google Earth from the Boating HD app and that's great but GE doesn't show depth contours so I was hoping I could use the app on the computer.

I just messed around with mine and it appears that routes will sync between the two but tracks and markers don't. Sorry I assumed they would.

I couldn't anything to sync to it but I can send it all to Google Earth so I'll just use that. I just wish there were depth contours on Google Earth.

I just wish there were depth contours on Google Earth. I didn't know it until now but just found out that Google Earth shows the depth but without contour lines. It looks to be very accurate too. That's a game changer.

GE shows the depth it has stored in its brain or it displays what you brought in from Navionics? I've never seen depth in GE. How do you make it display?

It's built into GE and it looks to be pretty accurate. I've checked it against areas where I know the depth and it was right on. Just put the cursor on the spot and it shows the depth of where the cursor is. It's displayed on the bottom right of the screen just to the right of where the latitude and longitude is displayed.

Indeed it does, doesn't work well on the inland waterways around here though. I think there is a way to overlay charts onto GE, I'll have a play with it tonight.

I'll have a play with it tonight. When you're done, see if you can overlay charts into Google Earth. rofl
