Doing my annual 4 day trip to Apalachicola this week but before I head that way, I wanted to take the little boat to the river to check out my trolling motor seal replacement work and a few other things.. so got up late and launched the boat around 8 this morning...had the parking lot to myself and saw only one other boat on the water all day. I guess we had more rain than I thought because the river was high, dirty and running wide open so I didn't expect to catch anything. My first stop was a waste of time with not even a single hit so headed toward the dam. Picked up three hybrids there so thought I'd hit one of my favorite spots on the way back to the ramp. They were there. I lost count but caught somewhere between 12 and 20 within an hour and a half. Looks like it's going be a good year for the striped and hybrids. Trolling motor and everything else worked perfectly and I was loaded up and on my way home by 11. Great day to be on the water... Now if the trout will only cooperate later this week.
