Putting another truck on the road and thinking about going a new route for controlling axle brakes. Anyone with some real world experience with one? Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller - Wireless - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional www.etrailer.com/Brake-Controller/Curt/C51180.html

This may be a dumb question but how do break controllers work? My truck came with one in it when I bought it and I've never used it. I'm guessing since my trailers don't have electric brakes, it's not of any use. Can I unplug and remove it without screwing anything up?

Yeah these are for use with electric brakes. I got a deal on a s/s retrofit kit(yet to be installed) for the boat and my car trailer is electric brakes on both axles as is the camper. Juan if yours is not in the way I would just leave it in place. Adds value when selling the truck.

Thanks skeeter. It's really not in the way but since I've never used it and it has a quick disconnect plug, I was wondering if I could unplug it and take it out without messing up the brake lights or something else in the brake system. I could always put it back if I ever decide to sell the truck.

I too have one installed in my truck, it was there when I purchased the vehicle...and haven't got a clue how it works..My boat trailer and camper are the only things I pull with the truck, and they have no breaks on them.
