I’m looking into buying a 2006 sv 2100 with a 150 opti that needs a new power head. I went to look at it yesterday, and noticed the drain plug was left in, and it has been setting outside uncovered for almost a year. Rainwater was draining out of the hatch in the splash well. I know the wiring will be shot, but is there anything else I need to look for? The guy is asking 10k, but I don’t think he was aware it was full of water. What would be a fair price in this condition? The bot is a freshwater boat all it’s life, and other than the usual crud from sitting outside is in fairly decent condition considering. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hydraulic or cable steering? Cables shot. Oil tank shot. Pumps shot. Batteries shot. Motor shot. Has water reached the fuel tank? Is tank shot?
Perhaps I'm feeling cynical, but I'd start with an offer for $6 for the hull and the trailer and not try to fix a blown Opti. I think I would drain it and weigh it to try to assess whether the foam is saturated too before I made any offers.

Hydraulic steering that moves free, not sure about the fuel tank, I’m a mercury mechanic so the work isn’t the issue for me, I was just wondering how water logged it will be

I tend to agree with crabs. All of that and more could need replacing. It's got a poly tank, so that should be okay but the wiring is another story since none of it is tinned and it's subject to corrosion. Fuel/water separator? Hydraulic reservoirs if it has them. (power pole or trim tabs) There's no wood to worry about but there's a lot of floatation foam and I'd think if the water was running out of the splash well hatch, it will need to dry out for a long time and even then may not dry out completely since sometimes the stringer drains are clogged or glassed in and water won't drain as it should. That said, it's a gamble so personally, I certainly wouldn't pay $10K and would probably pass on it all together.

I'd run. That's just me though. Anybody that would leave a plug in a boat outside for a year can't be trusted.
