I need to find a "hot only when the key is on" 12 VDC source on a Yamaha so I can connect a Voltage/USB plug and an hour meter. If I remember correctly, that was a yellow wire on my old Yamaha. I can't find a yellow wire on this one and all the wires I've checked are constant 12 volts so does anyone know of any other color that's 12 volts only when the key is on?

Umm, should be the yellow but try the blue wire also.

I'm going to look for the yellow wire again tomorrow. There's a lot of mold and mildew on the wiring harness so I'm thinking what I thought was a white wire might be faded out yellow. I didn't check the blue because blue is supposed to be a trim wire. I'll splice into that one soon to mount a trim switch on the bow if I can ever figure out how to run a wire from the console to the bow. This thing is full of floatation foam and running new wires is not easy! Gonna wire up an onboard charger tomorrow too. That one should be easy.

Hold on I think I've lead you down the wrong path there, blue doesn't go to the switch, it's for the gauge lights.

Thanks, didn't realize there were two blues. It's sky blue that goes to the trim switch.
Thanks to Google, found a yamaha color code chart

Well, after installing an onboard charger, I checked the wiring harness real close for a yellow wire today. There isn't one! Not sure what to do now. There is a yellow with red stripes wire that I haven't checked yet. That's next.
